UNRAVELED Contest Anouncement

Gena Showalter’s YA series, Intertwined, about sixteen-year-old Aden Stone, a paranormal magnet who has, well had, four souls trapped in his head, continues this fall with the release of UNRAVELED (Harlequin, September 2010). Now, Aden is down to three souls bossing him around, but along the way he’s picked up the title of Vampire King to add to his ever-growing list of worries (which includes a prophecy that says he’ll bite the dust after a knife through the heart). To celebrate UNRAVELED’s release, Gena and her YA buds are hosting a scavenger hunt on their blogs.

The all-star lineup of hunt participants includes authors Rachel Caine, PC Cast, Marley Gibson, Rosemary Clement-Moore and Tina Ferraro, as well as Gena, natch, and The Knight Agency blog. Three grand prize winners will each win a $100 Visa gift card, plus Gena's giving away signed copies of UNRAVELED to five lucky runner-ups. All you have to do is find all eight letters, unscramble them and email the word to Contests(AT)KnightAgency.net. To find out where the letters are hiding in the great internet universe, click here for a contest road map and rules.

This contest runs from Monday, August 30th to Thursday, September 2nd. All entries must be received by Monday, September 6th at midnight ET.

Eighth Grade Bites

Review Time! Okay, guys I know you're like sick of reviews but this is not a catch up review so yer we're back to normal now I guess! Anyway, here are my thoughts...

Book- Eighth Grade Bites ( The Chronicles of Vladmir Tod #1)
Author - Heather Brewer
Release Date - 2nd August ( AUS)
Publisher - Penguin
Source - Publishers
Cover - 3/5
Rating - 3/5
Description- If you thought eighth grade was tough, try it with fangs and a fear of garlic. Junior high really stinks for thirteen-year-old Vladimir Tod. Bullies harass him, the principal is dogging him, and the girl he likes prefers his best friend. Oh, and Vlad has a secret. His mother was human, but his father was a vampire. With no idea of the extent of his powers and no one to teach him, Vlad struggles daily with blood cravings and enlarged fangs. When a strange substitute teacher begins to question him a little too closely, Vlad worries that his cover is about to be blown. And then he realises he's being hunted by a vampire killer, and suddenly hunger, girls and bullies seem not quite such a problem after all.

Review - So I finished this book like 20 seconds ago and it was good. I think it was abit too young for me though, I found that although I enjoyed the plot and the story and think Vladmir is totally awesome, the book in general was abit too young. If it was up to me I would say it's more of a tween book then a teen, however I'm thinking maybe the story kinda ages along withvthe reader you know kinda like Harry Potter. So I will probably start the second book soon and test my theory. The plot was really exciting but I reckon they should have started the action sooner instead of leaving it til the last 60 pages or so ( it only had 182 pages so I guess it was difficult). I also thought there wasn't enought romance, I really don't think asking a girl out on a date on the two pages of the book is counted as romance which is another reason I think it is more of a tween book. Other then that I found myself enjoying the book! It was really funny and comfortable to pick and just lose yourself into. I would say anyone who enjoys funny, quirky, vampire novels would enjoy this one but keep in mind unless you're a tween or super immature or forever young you might find this book abit ehhhh childish? Nevertheless, it was a great read!

Academy 7

Review Time! Last catch up review! whoop whoop! I have been doing catch review for so long that I can't remember what it's likemto post normal stuff!!!! Anyway, I not a big fan of Science Fiction and anything relatively spacey but I loved this one! Possibly because it wasn't hard core sci-fi and just kinda refers to it every so often it was more of the forbidden romance, boarding school kinda book which I am a sucker for :P

The most memorable part of this novel I think is that the author ( Anne Osterlund) has very cleverly combined a modern day story with the sci -fi genre. I mean most sc-fi that I read which isn't many is all about saving the world or wars on Mars but this one was really girly in a way. It was romance and boarding on a different planet basically. The characters were really well, human-like ( aka just like you and me) and the idea of Academy 7 was really cool ( I wany to go to Academy 7). Easy to read, great plot, a bit of a slow start, great ending and basically a great read for poeple who aren't really sci-fi fans but want to read a good book !

In My Mailbox #13

Hello my lovely poppets! It's Sunday and it's In My Mailbox time! I had another awesome week this week! I think my good lucks running out though...Anyway on the bright side this is what I got this week...

For Review-

The Three Lovers of Persimmon by Cassandra Gold - I haven't heard anything about this one until it turned up on my doorstep on Monday, I have read the blurb and it sound pretty good so should be good!
Saltwater Vampire by Kirsty Eagar - From the Australian author of Raw Blue this is a vampire thriller and well I like vampires, never read a thriller - well to my knowledge anyway but I didn't know I was reading chick lit until someone told me so yer)
The Eternal Ones by Kristen Miller - ZOMG!!!!! I have been wanting to read this book since..since like forever! Now I have my own copy to read, I was too happy to do anything for like half an hour that day :P
I am Number Four by Pittcus Lore - Aliens are the new Vampires! This book looks ( and sounds fantastic) actually I don't even know whether it's about aliens or not but apparently according to some review I read about it!

Thank-you to Penguin Australia for this weeks book (again) I will work very hard to review as many as I can!

Now guys, I have a dilemma... I don't know what to read next! So I have four top choices and I'm going to ask you to decided because I would probably start all of them and take forever to read them all so my choices are -

1) The Eternal Ones by Kristen Miller
2) Siren by Tricia Rayburns
3) The Lonely Hearts Club by Elizabeth Eulberg
4) I am Number Four by Pitticus Lore

Leave a number with your comments so that I can tally up the votes! What did you get this week?

Graceling

Review Time Take Two! Sorry guys, that I'm like swamping you all with review but I have to catch up on my reviews or else, I will be forever behind! Graceling by Kristin Cashore was fantastic! I read it like two weeks ago but because I was behind on my reviews I haven't been able to post it til now and since I'm trying to get all my reviews up and going this weekend here is my review FINALLY!

Now, when I first started reading this book I was delighted to find that it was set in the middle ages (kinda with you know knights and inns and villagers and all), I love books that are set in the olden days, it reminded me of Eragon and The Rangers Apprentice series :P It was really fun to read!

Although the writing style was pretty serious it was still pretty easy to read, the characters were also really well brought out. The romance was terribly cute and the cover was really clever too. What I really like though was the who concept of a Graceling, it was really clever of the author think that up let alone a novel based around it. I also understand that writing about a whole different world to our own need alot of research and all to write so it really was a well written novel! However, I would have liked to see further than where the book ended I wasn't satisfied with the ending so that bought down the rating :( Rating 3.5/5

Hex Hall

Review Time! I stayed up til midnight to finish this one so if you don't read this review I will be very, very, very sad :P Anyway, I am finally working my way down my 2010 Debut Author TBR pile at a alright pace. Here's the thing with 2010 Debuts, you have to read them in 2010 or it's just not right and since august is nearly over I picked up my pace and started reading like mad!!! Now, I'm behind on my review books (arghhhhhhh)

Anyway, I LOVED this book! Here's the thing about me- I have to read a consecutive amount of good books after a awesome book or else I lose my reading faith for like three days (no joke) and I read Graceling (review coming up) then A Little Wanting song which was surprisingly good (Aussie!) and than Academy 7 ( review coming up!) then finally Hex Hall by Rachel Hawkins and I have to say this just completes the stream of good books!

I found this book really easy to read (very easy). It was humorous, comfortable, teenage kinda writing. I find some books have very serious writing that is easy to read but makes reading it more like a job not a enjoyment (ie Twilight, enjoyed it but could have been better). This was just really quirky and witty and easy to read. That is the thing that stood out to me. I loved the plot, the start was great but the ending was rather abrupt, I would have liked to know what happened to Archer. The characters were really interesting, loved the cover and just a really great book. Probably, one of the better 2010 Debuts that I have read this year! Rating 4.5/5

Blog Hop and Follow Friday

Friday is THE day to engage yourself and hop around and check out other bookish blogs :P Lucky for us we have Book Blogger Hop and Follow Friday! Thank-you to both Jennifer and Parajunkee for hosting these fantatsic memes! This week book blogger question is...

Do you use a rating system for your reviews and if so, what is it and why?
My Answer-  Yes, I do use a rating system, I dont use any icons just numbers and I rate a book by it's cover, characters, plot, start, ending, author's writing style ( comfortable or not to read) and enjoyment level. I have to say my ratings system is very harsh and I have only given one 5/5 in all my reviews!

What is the first book that you remember reading?
The Very Hungry Catapilliar!

A Little Wanting Song

Review Time! I finished this book last week but I am still behind on my reviews so arghhhhh!!! Anyway, A Little Wanting Song is a 2010 debut Novel and written by an Australian author! *squeal* I wasn't so sure about this one because I not a big fan of depressing novels and I had my doubys about this one but this one was just really amazing!

This novel was actually quite relaxing to read! It was not too long and very easy to read. A fantastic plot about finding yourself and being who you are. Being a true friend and living life to the maximum. A very easy to read writing style, set in rural Australia (yes, we don't have kangaroos jumping around everywhere! I for one live in a city :P) Anyway, love the whole book, truly it was so easy to get into and read!

For those of you who are just looking for a good book that isn't really hard core or too depressing this is the book! Seriously check this out!

Wanted

Review Time! So Karin and I hosted a Supernatural showdown not too long ago and I am still behind on reviews so this is another one of those reviews that I never got around too. Wanted is the 8th book in the Pretty Little Liars series and I'm pretty sure it's the last one too! I absolutely love this series so I'm pretty devastated that, this was the last book but apparently she is writing another mystery/ suspense series so I all good.

Now, these books are actually really confusing to read because there is so much going on and so it's really hard to keep up with! Anyway, this book was probably one of my favourites, partly because all the secrets are revealed ( I was so shocked with the truth). Also because everyone kinda gets a happy ending! One thing I like about this book is that it's not too long and there isn't really a boring moment in it! Everything is very fast-paced. Great characters (that I will miss), fantastic plot, a very comfortable writing style, loved the ending and one of the better series I have read. If you haven't read it yet, make sure you pick up a copy because it really is fantastic!

Oh! and you would have to send a copy of your review to me afterwards so I can posted it on Library Thing ( I will not take credit though , so I would be like blah blah blah written by *NAME*) Also it has to be a proper review not just two sentences or a bunch of meaningless words!

Before I Fall

Another review! ( Sorry guys! I just have so many to get through, I will be make to normal posting bout next week :P) Anyway, 2010 Debut Author masterpiece! I abit behind on my challenge so it's good that I finished this one! Anyway written by Lauren Oliver for those who didn't know (I'm pretty sure I'm the only one who hasn't read it yet)

Well, this certainly was a change! I have been reading so much paranormal and "otherworld stuff" a contemporary was a holiday in a way! Now, I enjoyed this book quite alot actually, basically it was about a girl who dies (Sam) and after she dies she has to repeat her last day as a living over and over again. Us, readers go through her experience and watch how everyday she slowly makes changes, discovers herself and finds true love just a tad too late! It was really, really sweet and I got a bit teary at the end I admit! Great characters, deals with real problems, fantastic plot and amazing cover. The only downer is that I find some parts of the book too slow moving or repetitive. However overall, it was a great read! Rating 4.25/5

The Demon Lexicon

Review Time! I haven't posted alot this week but sometimes you have to put blogging aside when you have a important exam next week and a billion assignments dur not to mention the stress on whether or not you made the Touch Team *paninc*. Anyway I'm way behind on my reviews and that is just unacceptable so here I am in the middle of the night ( well nine-ish) posting a reivew for The Demon Lexicon by Sarah Rees

Now, I have been wanting to read this book for a while now and I don't know... you know how soemtimes you expect this book or that book to be so good and it just...falls apart on you? Well, this book was kind of like that but it didn't really fall apart more like ..lost some apges :P. Anyway number one disappointment, it was told from the perspective of a boy, now you may think I'm being sexist but I simply find it very hard to enjoy books written in the perspective of a guy. Number two disappointment, not enough romance! I admit I tend to enjoy book with romance even the cheesy one with the loser girl and golden football player guy but this one just...romance...not really. Number three disappointment... I don't have one :P So overall, it was alright, can't say I loved it or even really enjoyed it but it was alright. Rating 2.5/5

Another week of hopping!!!!! Like every other week Book Blogger Hop is held by Jen @ Crazy for Books. it's a weekly meme where we all hop around to everyone elses blogs to check out what everyone is doing! The same goes for Follow Friday which hosted by Parajunkee @ Parajunkee's View

Of course, there is always a twist which is a question. The question this week is How Many Blogs Do I Follow? Well, my answer is that I follow quite a few blogs actually, however I do have a criteria to decide whether I follow or not. Reviews, boookish posts, genre, giveaways ( although not necessary), blog design and how informative they are about upcoming books are all the things I take into consideration! So I have around 40 ish blogs that I follow?

Little Vampire Women

Review Time!  After last weeks Supernatural Showdown I am soooo behind on my reviews so I'm probably going to just post many many reviews this week. Maybe. Anyway I finished Little Vampire Women last, last week. It was basically Little Women by Louisa May Alcott ( I loved that book) with vampires (which makes it written by Lynn Messina and Louisa May Alcott) or shall I say The March Sisters are vampires.

My two cents on the book? I presonally liked the originally better. They basically KILLED the story by adding vampires. It was well... extremely boringgggg. I felt the book just dragged on and on ( it took me like three weeks to finish it becuase I just kept putting it off) the characters were fine and all but the vampire part just seemed out of place. It didn't fit and it made the nice little Marches Sisters seem like real big weirdos. The plot was boring, I liked it better when Jo wanted to be an Author than be a Human Vampire Slayer slayer, Meg married a weirdo, Amy was just plain creepy and sweet Beth was just....sweet with fangs?
Definitey a huge disappointment, honestly I was expecting a better book but...maybe you will like it.

Jealousy

Review Time! I recieved this one two weeks ago from the wonderful people @ Penguin Australia ( You guys are awesome!) Anyway, Strange Angels is one of my favourites series just to let you know and I spent 10 minuted before this review just admiring how well all three books look on my bookshelf (pretty sad I know but it looks really good)!

Book - Jealousy ( Strange Angels #3)
Author - Lili St.Crow
Release Date - 2nd August ( Australia) 29th July (US)
Publisher - Razorbill/Penguin
Copy- From the publisher
Rating - 4/5

Description- Dru Anderson might finally be safe. She’s at the largest Schola on the continent, and beginning to learn what it means to be svetocha–half vampire, half human, and all deadly. If she survives her training, she will be able to take her place in the Order, holding back the vampires and protecting the oblivious normal people.

But a web of lies and betrayals is still closing around her, just when she thinks she can relax a little. Her mentor Christophe is missing, her almost-boyfriend is acting weird, and the bodyguards she’s been assigned seem to know much more than they should. And then there’s the vampire attacks, the strange nightly visits, and the looks everyone keeps giving her. As if she should know something.

Or as if she’s in danger.

Someone high up in the Order is a traitor. They want Dru dead–but first, they want to know what she remembers of the night her mother died. Dru doesn’t want to remember, but it looks like she might have to–especially since once Christophe returns, he’ll be on trial for his life. The only person who can save him is Dru.

The problem is, once she remembers everything, she may not want to…

Review- Okay, before I read this book I had to re-read the first two ( which is why it took me so long to post this review up) because I read them in the Christmas Holidays and couldn't really remember where the story ended. Anyway, started this book this week and GOSH! It was amazing!!! I kinda torn between this one and the first because they are both so good but I think I like this one best! I admit I have a thing for boarding school, paranormal romance ( cliche but hey I love it!) and this one was just....sooooo good. I am absolutely in love with Christopher, think Dru is totally badass (:P) and would kill to go the a Schola ( just me and da boys! hehe). Dru and Christopher together! Graves can go die in a hole!!! Anyway, it started off a bit slow for my taste but it soon progressed with a nice pace. The plot in this story was really fantastic, great use of language, really great charcters that you feel connected to, awesome ending and I love how easy it is to read Lili's writing style! The only thing I wasn't all that pleased with was how quickly the book ended! That and how long I have to wait until the next one! This cover is also my favourite so far! ( It's purple, it's shiny, it's a good book :P My Motto) So if you haven't read the series already I suggest you do becuase ' you ain't with the programme!' Just read it.

Day Six - Review & Interview with Lauren Kate

Sooooo if you have been keeping up with me, I have been hosting a Supernatural Showdown Week with Karin from Karin's Book Nook this whole week. we have had giveaways ( go go go enter! NOW! click on day one post ;P) , guests posts with fantastic authors and all sorts of funky stuff! Today I have reviewed Fallen by Lauren Kate AND and Interview! So let's get started shall we?

Review

I finished Fallen ages ago but never wrote a review for it. This was one of those books that I just happened to read after a SUPER Amazing novel so I probably judged this one wayyy too hard. Now, Fallen was about this girls who gets sent to a reform school because her parents think she is kinda...crazy and there she meets a guy who she swears she has seen before. That's the jest but it's more interesting trust me. Anyway, I didn't really enjoy the book. There I said it, I did not really enjoy Fallen. The book was good and everything but I found it very..empty. It didn't really make sense in a way I feel. The plot went around in a big fat circle than ended in the place it started. I had questions at the start, I had more questions unanswered in the end. I didn't manage to get any meaning out of it, in a way I found it very difficult to read because it was so confusing. So it wasnt my favourtie book BUT I am willing to give the series another try and would LOVE to get my hands on a copy of Torment. Plus these books have BEAURIFUL covers! Rating 2.5/5

Interview

Who is Luce based on? Which character are you most like?

The physical traits of Luce (pronounced Loose) are based on my oldest, closest friend—the dark wavy hair, hazel eyes, tiny teeth, etc. When I first started writing her, I pulled some personality traits from this friend, but as I continued with her story, Luce veered away from my friend into an identity of her own. I share some traits with her—like her stubbornness and tendency to get swept away by romance. But if I had to which one I’m most like (though this is hard to imagine), I might be a crazy combination of Arriane and Penn.

Did you struggle in coming up with any of the characters?
Daniel was the most challenging, mainly because the full truth of his character has to come to light very slowly over the course of the entire series in order for the books to work. The reveal at the end of the first book was probably one that most readers saw coming...it is book about fallen angels after all! But there's a much bigger, game-changing reveal about Daniel to come later in the series. It's challenging for me to know what's coming and only be able to show the reader so much at this point. Daniel's character is difficult enough as it is! But I like to think of him as a work in progress, a developing story, and someone who, above all, knows Luce better than anyone else (including herself), and has her best interest at heart.

What happened to Trevor? Who is the good and who is the bad guy? Why did these angels fall? Why did you kill Penn? Why did Daniel give Luce the middle finger? Will there be another love triangle in the next book? Why did you end the book with so many unanswered questions??
That is the blessing and the curse of writing a series! I wish I could give you all the answers now, but please believe me that I have a reason for withholding some of the details! I must torment you until Torment comes out in the fall! In the meantime, check out the Sword and Cross Case Files at www.fallenbooks.com to learn a little bit more about who's who in Fallen!

Why did you choose to write it in third person instead of in first?
I love talking about point of view and love playing with it in my books. In the case of Fallen, I didn’t intentionally choose this point of view. Most of the time when I start a new story, I’ll hear a line in my head before I start writing. In this case, it was the first sentence of Chapter One (more or less). The choice to say “Luce” instead of “I” was implicit, not something I was entirely aware of. I just started writing, but it felt true to the story to tell it from a close, close third, so I kept it. We’re almost in Luce’s head, but there’s that small point of view choice separating us. She remains just a little bit unknowable, which is how I wanted her character to be.

Can you give us a hint about what will happen in Torment?

I’m having so much fun writing Torment right now. I think I’m more proud of it than any book I’ve written so far. Really, it’s going to be GOOD. It’s hard for me not to spill everything right now so I can say, “Aren’t you excited? Won’t this be great?” But my publisher would probably have my head. So in lieu of that, I’ll reveal just three things:

1)As Luce learns more about her past, she comes into a host of powers she never knew she had—and they might involve the shadows.

2)After the second book comes out, a prequel (which will span thousands of years!) will follow before the final book in the series.

3)I’ve posted a preview on my blog! Check it out!

Thanks Lauren for stopping over and clearing up why so many questiosn were left unanswered! Check out Karin post today HERE

Today, we are honoured ( well I am ) to have a 2011 Debut Author talking about why she wrote about Angels. So you get to know the author before her book even hits the shelves! Ladies & Gentlemen please welcome Cynthia Hand, author of Unearthly!

Why did I choose to write about angels? This is a question I get a lot these days, and I always feel a little funny answering it, because the truth is, there was never a clear, definitive moment where I said to myself, “you know what? I’m going to write about angels!” It just sort of came about organically.

The seed that became Unearthly was always Clara—I clearly started to hear the voice of this character, this girl who knew that it was her destiny to save a boy who she kept seeing in visions. (For the record, usually in life it’s not a good sign when you’re hearing voices, but as a writer that’s how it usually first comes to me, a voice that wants to tell a story. Call me crazy, but I can accept that kind of craziness. It’s worked out pretty well for me so far. :) ) So I started to hear Clara’s voice, and she began to tell me about this mission that she was on. Then I lit on this fantastic image of a forest fire, and once I had that, the story began to unroll itself. With the forest fire came the setting of Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and with the setting came the character of Tucker, this other, more rough-and-tumble boy who captures Clara’s attention and complicates everything beautifully. So suddenly I had the who, the what, the where, and the when.

Now all I had left to do was think of the why. And write about the how.

The why led me to angels. First off, I knew that I wanted Clara to be special; I wanted her to be a modern-day, bona fide hero. But I also knew I wanted her to be human. I didn’t want her to be a vampire or a fairy or any other kind of wholly supernatural creature—even though I love reading those books; don’t get me wrong. I wanted her to have some unique problems, sure, but I also wanted her to have very normal, human problems. I wanted her to be a high school girl who gets completely tongue-tied around the boy she likes.

I kept mulling over the word “hero,” and then, in one of those freakish writerly flashes of inspiration, I remembered this one obscure little passage in the Bible that talked about heroes—the Nephilim, the offspring of angels and humans.

I’d been interested in the Nephilim since I was a little girl and read Madeleine L’Engle’s book Many Waters, in which the main characters travel back to the time of Noah where there are angels walking around on earth, and some of the angels have children by human women. This idea always fascinated me—what would it be like, I wondered, to know that you’re part angel, the blood of the divine running through your veins? It would be crazy, right? Maybe it would be cool, maybe you’d have all these neat powers, but it might also be a lot of pressure!

As soon as I hit on the Nephilim idea, I knew that’s what Clara was, and all the other pieces of my story tumbled right into place. Then I had loads of fun coming up with the rules and mythology of the new world I was creating. That’s where some of the real joy of writing comes from—it’s just wildly fun to invent all these cool things and see them play themselves out on the page. I also kind of fell in love with how the story immediately began to operate on two levels, the surface level where Clara faces all her real-life challenges, and another deeper, spiritual level where she is forced to confront all of the big questions of life, the “why am I here?” questions.

That’s the tricky thing about writing about angels—they are, at heart, a topic steeped in religious connotation. I never wanted to write a book that advocated any one religion or set of religious beliefs, but I also didn’t want to ignore the spiritual implications of the story. I did a lot of research on angels and their history, which was incredibly interesting stuff, but I also gave myself permission to take the pieces of information that lit up my imagination and leave the rest—to create a world that was fully Clara’s own. So in the end, I just wrote what happened to this particular girl and tried to make the situation as real as possible: if you found out you were part-angel, how would you feel about life? About the idea of God? About your duty to that God? About your place in the world?

When I finished writing the book, I found that Clara’s world was such a great place to play around in that I didn’t want to leave. So it’s great that I get to write more books in the series and explore all of this stuff more fully and see what other magic happens!
Thanks Cythnia for stopping by today and writing such a lovely post! I absolutely loved this post and look forward to reading your book! ps- BEAUTIFUL COVER!  Check out Karin's blog for her post today HERE

Day Three - Top Ten on why Angels 'R' better!

Hola Amigos! Incase you have given civilisation and haven't been around for the last few days than you would know that Karin @ Karin's Book Nook and I have come together to hold a Supernatural Showdown! A week of Guests Posts, Inteviews, Giveaways and Zombies VS. Angels! Winner takes all! who would win?  Anyway, today I have come up with a list of TEN reasons why Angels 'R' better!

Badass Bookie's Top Ten Reasons Why Angels 'R' Better

1) Angels have wings-
- Tell me you don't want to see how it feels to be able to fly, coze it would be totally awesome and it's not like thy are those ugly wings that you see on birds ( phobia of birds right here) They're all soft and fluffy and beautiful. I want wings!

2) All Angels look good :P
- Just look at Patch ( Hush Hush), totally drool-worthy, Angels are pefection in human form ( well the closest thing to it). They are beautiful and totally sexy!

3) Angels look good in Purple
- No offence to all you Zombie Lovers but green skin really isn't my thing. It totally clashes with purple. pffft

4) Angels don't constantly drool
- Again, I would hate to go on a date with a guy who constantly drool. Talk about bad kissing skills :P!

5) Angels are immortal
- I would rather be immortal than undead anyday

6) Angels heal fast
- I would rather heal fast than have chunks my guts sticking out for the world to see

7) Angels live in style
- I would pick Heaven to the cementery anyday.

8) Angels 'R' better than Zombies!
- Just because I say so. My word is law.

9) Angels are cool
- My word is law

10) ( I can't think of another reason)
- ANGELS R AWESOME BECAUSE WE ARE WINNNG THE POLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is that enough reasons to covince you? Go check out Karin's Top Ten Reason why Zmbies 'R' better HERE

Day Two- Guest Post- Suzanne Selfors and Cover Reveal!

Hey Guys, today we have Suzanne Selfors, author of Coffeehouse Angel over. She has kindly written a super awesome guest for you guys AND we are revealing the new cover for Coffeehouse Angel paperback version (ohhhhhh). The paperback would be released on 9th of November 2010! Without further ado Guys......Suzanne Selfors!

Malcolm the Messenger.

I get more letters about Coffeehouse Angel than about all my other books combined. I've tried to figure out why and I think it comes down to one character - Malcolm. My readers love him. So do I, as a matter of fact.

For those of you who haven't read the book, Malcolm is an angel - a messenger angel to be exact. Delivering messages is his job, his only job. He's supposed to carry the message, deliver it, then leave without asking any questions. Without getting involved in the human world. But he's dissatisfied and curious. He yearns to do something else.

Malcolm took shape over a couple of months as I struggled with the first draft. I knew he needed to mirror the hero, Katrina, with his feelings of not fitting in, with his feelings of being stuck. At first he was a traditional messenger angel, the kind we read about in the Christian/Judeo/Islamic tradition. He glowed in an otherworldly way, and he radiated heat. He was beautiful, too, in an otherworldly way.

But then I realized that he needed a stronger personality. He needed to be curious and playful. He needed to be a bit mischievous and willing to break rules. So I went back to one of the earliest messengers - Hermes, the messenger to the Greek Gods, who had a reputation as a trouble-maker. And I blended the traditions together. That is why Malcolm wears a kilt, why his wings are on his ankles, and why he carries a satchel.

So that's how I created my angel character. If you visit my website, you can see photos of the town that inspired Coffeehouse Angel. And please keep sending those letters. Angels rule, zombies drool!

Cover for paperback Coffehouse Angel -

How Cute is it????? It's absolutely ADORABLE!

Thanks you Suzanne for coming over and taking part in the Supernatural Showdown! Find more information about Suzanne HERE!

In My Mailbox #9

Hey Guys! Since My Supernatural Showdown starts tomorrow I have decided to post my mailbox today! That way I can post both things! Since I got alot of books last week I decided to cut down this week and only got TWO books :P It was hard but I DID IT! BTW You can expect a review for Jealously by Lili St. Crow for next weekend, here's a hint though *whispers* It is absolutely amazing! Anyway...

1) A Little Wanting Song by Cath Crowley

I got this one because firstly it's a 2010 debut so I can put it towards the challenge and the cover is just amazinggg. The blurb sounds really sweet too, just a little worried that it's going to be one of those totally depressing novels but *fingers crossed*

Description- A summer of friendship, romance, and songs in major chords. . .

CHARLIE DUSKIN loves music, and she knows she's good at it. But she only sings when she's alone, on the moonlit porch or in the back room at Old Gus's Secondhand Record and CD Store. Charlie's mom and grandmother have both died, and this summer she's visiting her grandpa in the country, surrounded by ghosts and grieving family, and serving burgers to the local kids at the milk bar. She's got her iPod, her guitar, and all her recording equipment, but she wants more: A friend. A dad who notices her. The chance to show Dave Robbie that she's not entirely unspectacular.

ROSE BUTLER lives next door to Charlie's grandfather and spends her days watching cars pass on the freeway and hanging out with her troublemaker boyfriend. She loves Luke but can't wait to leave their small country town. And she's figured out a way: she's won a scholarship to a science school in the city, and now she has to convince her parents to let her go. This is where Charlie comes in. Charlie, who lives in the city, and whom Rose has ignored for years. Charlie, who just might be Rose's ticket out

2) Sapphique by Catherine Fisher

I read the first one Incarceron and found it just a tad slow and depressing but I'm willing to give this series a secod chance!

Description- Finn has escaped from the terrible living Prison of Incarceron, but its memory torments him, because his brother Keiro is still inside. Outside, Claudia insists he must be king, but Finn doubts even his own identity. Is he the lost prince Giles? Or are his memories no more than another construct of his imprisonment? And can you be free if your friends are still captive? Can you be free if your world is frozen in time? Can you be free if you don't even know who you are? Inside Incarceron, has the crazy sorcerer Rix really found the Glove of Sapphique, the only man the Prison ever loved. Sapphique, whose image fires Incarceron with the desire to escape its own nature. If Keiro steals the glove, will he bring destruction to the world? Inside. Outside. All seeking freedom. Like Sapphique

That's all for this week!

Solace & Grief

Review Time!  but before that, I posted buttons up in yesterdays post for next weeks Supernatural Showdown but the HTML codes didn't turn out so bare with me until I sort that out. Now, this is a 2010 debut author novel (according to Goodreads) and it's by an Australian author, Foz Meadows (what a funky name!) Anyway, it was surprisingly really good!

Now I'm going to be honest I didn't know whether I would like this book because first, I kind of over Vampire books and second the cover was like pretty plain and since I don't believe in 'Don't Judge A Book by It's Cover ' I wasn't all that sure about it. Howver, it turned out to be one of the better books I have read lately. After Glimmerglass, very single book just couldn't live up to my expectations! This one came close but than ..it didn't. The writing style in this is really easy to read, the plot was good but could have been better if the vampire part wasn't involved ( I liked thes story as it was and didn't see how the vampire part fit into it all) , loved the characters and really enjoyed the story in general. Two downs , cover and vampires but overall it was really good! Rating- 3.5/5

And she really doesn’t need to run into Luke Martin in the Feminine Hygiene Products aisle while her dad Googles ‘menstruation’ on his Blackberry. But ‘freak-of-nature’ takes on a whole new meaning when raging hormones and bath salts bring on another metamorphosis—complete with scales and a tail. And when Jade learns she’s inherited her mermaid tendencies from her late mother’s side of the family, it raises the question; if Mom was once a mermaid, did she really drown that day last summer? Jade is determined to find out.
