Twenty Boy Summer

Hello Lovelies! Review time! Unfortunately due The Indy/Indie ( Race Cars thing, I don't know how to spell it ) There is bad bad bad traffic and I couldn't not make it to the mailbox this week, although I tried, made dad drive me there but they closed already....so no IMM this week! However I have more reviews for you guys! Oh and TAYLOR SWIFT'S  SPEAK NOW IS AWESOME!!!!

The Short Story? - I finshed Twenty Boy Summer last week, I picked up the book before it became banned so ha! Anyway, I don't know why it's banned because it was an absolutely beautifully written book that I think every teen should read. BTW does anyone know why it's banned because I can't find anything wrong with it.....

The Long Story? - So the book is about a girl ( Anna) who had a 'thing' with her best friend's brother ( Matt) Sadly, Matt died of a heart defect and Anna is left with so many questions unanswered and a broken heart that refuses to be mended. One summer Frankie ( Best Friend) and Anna go to California for a holiday, there they made a pact for a twenty boy summer... but along comes Sam....

I loved Twenty Boy Summer, it was a beautifully written book about loss, pain, heart break and hope. It's a powerful book that really makes an imprint. I found myself thinking about it even after I finished it. Sarah Ockler, really is a fantastic writer. The thing I liked about this book was that the story started almost immediately, a great pace to read at. Fantastic characters, realistic but cute plot and beautifully written. I thought the ending was rather abrupt though, I would have lised to know what happened with Sam and maybe an epilogue would have been nice. The cover was beautful as well, it also has a secret meaning to it so you have to read the book to understand! In general it was a beautiful book that leaves an imprint, Rating 4/5

The Summer I turned Pretty

Review Time! I so excited to review this one because I have been wanting to read this book for a long, long time and well I won't tell you what I think about it unless you scroll down a little! I was going to wait until summer to read this but I couldn't wait so oh well!

Which cover do you like better? I got the second cover but the first cover is nice too!

The Short Story? - I had high expectations for this one since I have have been looking forward toward and any book that has made me wait better be good or else... * cracks knuckles* nah jokes, it was good anyway. Bravo! Fantastic! Great! Very cute :P

The Long Story? - I haven't read Jenny Han's first book Shug but this one was reallllllly good. I love reading paranormal and fantasy novels but sometimes it's just a relief and a nice change to read something different ( like breathing in fresh air). So either it's because I needed a change of genre or it's really is a great book, I enjoyed it immensely ( I going with the latter). Anyway, great characters, Belly portrays an excellent image of a lovesick teenager. I loved the plot which was really cute, great use of romance and brought out emotions in readers too! The ending is so mysterious and abrupt that I want to read the second book already! The book started of really well, ended with a cliff hanger and very comfortable reading style. Enough said, fantastic read and I'm rating it - 4/5  ( even if it really good I can't go around giving 5/5 everytime right? those are reserved for godly writing)

Blue Bloods

Review Time! My friend has been telling me to read this for ages and I finally picked it up last week and read it! I will tell you straight up - I did not enjoy it as much as I thought I will! Now this "friend" was the same "friend" who recommended me The Vampire Academy series which is the best vampire series out there! So I'm a bit disappointed in this one since it was probably one of my least favourite vampire novels!

Short Story - Too much description, too much designer brand not enough solid story!

Long Story- I don't really know what all this has to do with vampires because three quarters of the book was just descibing the inside of someones wardrobe or what a penthouse looks like. The other quarter was just that was about vampires just couldn't cover the whole point of vampires for the whole book! The book would have made a better teen drama/ chick lit then vampire paranormal. it wasn't terrible but it defeats the purpose of paranormal because all it was about was the inside of some vampires wardrobe and how awesome parties are! Um, not alot of romance either so ... Anyway in short ( or long) I didn't really enjoy this book :( Rating 2/5

She's So Dead To Us

Review Time! I finished this on last week but haven't posted a review on it yet because I wanted a solid week this week! Anyway, She's So Dead To Us is probably one of the BEST YA books I have read EVER. So this is a review worth reading!  Now, the first thing that attracted me to this book is the Tiffany blue cover with pearls, I admit I have this thing with pearls and Tiffany so I was like MINE! My second thought was this is going to be about some dead chick who was a rich snob, I was.. wrong! In fact she was or she is very much alive and it was a totally epic teen romance/ drama novel!

The Short Story? An epic novel that includes all the basics of a very good teen novel! Hot guys, rich kids, pretty girls, drama, romance, tension and I repeat myself ONE OF THE BEST YA BOOKS I HAVE EVER READ!

The Long Story? The first thing I notice about a book is how many pages there are (well, after the cover and the author and the publisher) and this one only had a short 273 pages so I was like score! Pretty cover and not too long. The plot in this story is really real-like I guess. It talks about cliques and separating the rich from the norms, it talks about jealousy, betrayal, teenage romance and everything in between! The writing style was very easy to read and swapped form the perspective of a girl to a boy and so forth. The start was really good because it went straight to the point, the ending was rather abrupt, straight after a KA-BOOM moment so I'm guessing there will be a sequel! Great characters ( did I mention hot?), fantastic writing ( Thank-you Kieran Scott), genius plot ( Thank-you again) and one of the best books I have read in a long time! It feels like I'm finally breathing fresh air again! Rating 5/5

Eighth Grade Bites

Review Time! Okay, guys I know you're like sick of reviews but this is not a catch up review so yer we're back to normal now I guess! Anyway, here are my thoughts...

When a strange substitute teacher begins to question him a little too closely, Vlad worries that his cover is about to be blown. And then he realises he's being hunted by a vampire killer, and suddenly hunger, girls and bullies seem not quite such a problem after all.

Review - So I finished this book like 20 seconds ago and it was good. I think it was abit too young for me though, I found that although I enjoyed the plot and the story and think Vladmir is totally awesome, the book in general was abit too young. If it was up to me I would say it's more of a tween book then a teen, however I'm thinking maybe the story kinda ages along withvthe reader you know kinda like Harry Potter. So I will probably start the second book soon and test my theory. The plot was really exciting but I reckon they should have started the action sooner instead of leaving it til the last 60 pages or so ( it only had 182 pages so I guess it was difficult). I also thought there wasn't enought romance, I really don't think asking a girl out on a date on the two pages of the book is counted as romance which is another reason I think it is more of a tween book. Other then that I found myself enjoying the book! It was really funny and comfortable to pick and just lose yourself into. I would say anyone who enjoys funny, quirky, vampire novels would enjoy this one but keep in mind unless you're a tween or super immature or forever young you might find this book abit ehhhh childish? Nevertheless, it was a great read!

Academy 7

Review Time! Last catch up review! whoop whoop! I have been doing catch review for so long that I can't remember what it's likemto post normal stuff!!!! Anyway, I not a big fan of Science Fiction and anything relatively spacey but I loved this one! Possibly because it wasn't hard core sci-fi and just kinda refers to it every so often it was more of the forbidden romance, boarding school kinda book which I am a sucker for :P

The most memorable part of this novel I think is that the author ( Anne Osterlund) has very cleverly combined a modern day story with the sci -fi genre. I mean most sc-fi that I read which isn't many is all about saving the world or wars on Mars but this one was really girly in a way. It was romance and boarding on a different planet basically. The characters were really well, human-like ( aka just like you and me) and the idea of Academy 7 was really cool ( I wany to go to Academy 7). Easy to read, great plot, a bit of a slow start, great ending and basically a great read for poeple who aren't really sci-fi fans but want to read a good book !

Graceling

Review Time Take Two! Sorry guys, that I'm like swamping you all with review but I have to catch up on my reviews or else, I will be forever behind! Graceling by Kristin Cashore was fantastic! I read it like two weeks ago but because I was behind on my reviews I haven't been able to post it til now and since I'm trying to get all my reviews up and going this weekend here is my review FINALLY!

Now, when I first started reading this book I was delighted to find that it was set in the middle ages (kinda with you know knights and inns and villagers and all), I love books that are set in the olden days, it reminded me of Eragon and The Rangers Apprentice series :P It was really fun to read!

Although the writing style was pretty serious it was still pretty easy to read, the characters were also really well brought out. The romance was terribly cute and the cover was really clever too. What I really like though was the who concept of a Graceling, it was really clever of the author think that up let alone a novel based around it. I also understand that writing about a whole different world to our own need alot of research and all to write so it really was a well written novel! However, I would have liked to see further than where the book ended I wasn't satisfied with the ending so that bought down the rating :( Rating 3.5/5

Hex Hall

Review Time! I stayed up til midnight to finish this one so if you don't read this review I will be very, very, very sad :P Anyway, I am finally working my way down my 2010 Debut Author TBR pile at a alright pace. Here's the thing with 2010 Debuts, you have to read them in 2010 or it's just not right and since august is nearly over I picked up my pace and started reading like mad!!! Now, I'm behind on my review books (arghhhhhhh)

Anyway, I LOVED this book! Here's the thing about me- I have to read a consecutive amount of good books after a awesome book or else I lose my reading faith for like three days (no joke) and I read Graceling (review coming up) then A Little Wanting song which was surprisingly good (Aussie!) and than Academy 7 ( review coming up!) then finally Hex Hall by Rachel Hawkins and I have to say this just completes the stream of good books!

I found this book really easy to read (very easy).It was humorous, comfortable, teenage kinda writing. I find some books have very serious writing that is easy to read but makes reading it more like a job not a enjoyment (ie Twilight, enjoyed it but could have been better). This was just really quirky and witty and easy to read. That is the thing that stood out to me. I loved the plot, the start was great but the ending was rather abrupt, I would have liked to know what happened to Archer. The characters were really interesting, loved the cover and just a really great book. Probably, one of the better 2010 Debuts that I have read this year! Rating 4.5/5

A Little Wanting Song

Review Time! I finished this book last week but I am still behind on my reviews so arghhhhh!!! Anyway, A Little Wanting Song is a 2010 debut Novel and written by an Australian author! *squeal* I wasn't so sure about this one because I not a big fan of depressing novels and I had my doubys about this one but this one was just really amazing!

This novel was actually quite relaxing to read! It was not too long and very easy to read. A fantastic plot about finding yourself and being who you are. Being a true friend and living life to the maximum. A very easy to read writing style, set in rural Australia (yes, we don't have kangaroos jumping around everywhere! I for one live in a city :P) Anyway, love the whole book, truly it was so easy to get into and read!

For those of you who are just looking for a good book that isn't really hard core or too depressing this is the book! Seriously check this out!

Wanted

Review Time! So Karin and I hosted a Supernatural showdown not too long ago and I am still behind on reviews so this is another one of those reviews that I never got around too. Wanted is the 8th book in the Pretty Little Liars series and I'm pretty sure it's the last one too! I absolutely love this series so I'm pretty devastated that, this was the last book but apparently she is writing another mystery/ suspense series so I all good.

Now, these books are actually really confusing to read because there is so much going on and so it's really hard to keep up with! Anyway, this book was probably one of my favourites, partly because all the secrets are revealed ( I was so shocked with the truth). Also because everyone kinda gets a happy ending! One thing I like about this book is that it's not too long and there isn't really a boring moment in it! Everything is very fast-paced. Great characters (that I will miss), fantastic plot, a very comfortable writing style, loved the ending and one of the better series I have read. If you haven't read it yet, make sure you pick up a copy because it really is fantastic!

Before I Fall

Another review! ( Sorry guys! I just have so many to get through, I will be make to normal posting bout next week :P) Anyway, 2010 Debut Author masterpiece! I abit behind on my challenge so it's good that I finished this one! Anyway written by Lauren Oliver for those who didn't know (I'm pretty sure I'm the only one who hasn't read it yet)

Well, this certainly was a change! I have been reading so much paranormal and "otherworld stuff" a contemporary was a holiday in a way! Now, I enjoyed this book quite alot actually, basically it was about a girl who dies (Sam) and after she dies she has to repeat her last day as a living over and over again. Us, readers go through her experience and watch how everyday she slowly makes changes, discovers herself and finds true love just a tad too late! It was really, really sweet and I got a bit teary at the end I admit! Great characters, deals with real problems, fantastic plot and amazing cover. The only downer is that I find some parts of the book too slow moving or repetitive. However overall, it was a great read! Rating 4.25/5

The Demon Lexicon

Review Time! I haven't posted alot this week but sometimes you have to put blogging aside when you have a important exam next week and a billion assignments dur not to mention the stress on whether or not you made the Touch Team *paninc*. Anyway I'm way behind on my reviews and that is just unacceptable so here I am in the middle of the night ( well nine-ish) posting a reivew for The Demon Lexicon by Sarah Rees

Now, I have been wanting to read this book for a while now and I don't know... you know how soemtimes you expect this book or that book to be so good and it just...falls apart on you? Well, this book was kind of like that but it didn't really fall apart more like ..lost some apges :P. Anyway number one disappointment, it was told from the perspective of a boy, now you may think I'm being sexist but I simply find it very hard to enjoy books written in the perspective of a guy. Number two disappointment, not enough romance! I admit I tend to enjoy book with romance even the cheesy one with the loser girl and golden football player guy but this one just...romance...not really. Number three disappointment... I don't have one :P So overall, it was alright, can't say I loved it or even really enjoyed it but it was alright. Rating 2.5/5

Review Time! I recieved this one two weeks ago from the wonderful people @ Penguin Australia ( You guys are awesome!) Anyway, Strange Angels is one of my favourites series just to let you know and I spent 10 minuted before this review just admiring how well all three books look on my bookshelf (pretty sad I know but it looks really good)!

Review- Okay, before I read this book I had to re-read the first two ( which is why it took me so long to post this review up) because I read them in the Christmas Holidays and couldn't really remember where the story ended. Anyway, started this book this week and GOSH! It was amazing!!! I kinda torn between this one and the first because they are both so good but I think I like this one best! I admit I have a thing for boarding school, paranormal romance ( cliche but hey I love it!) and this one was just....sooooo good. I am absolutely in love with Christopher, think Dru is totally badass (:P) and would kill to go the a Schola ( just me and da boys! hehe). Dru and Christopher together! Graves can go die in a hole!!! Anyway, it started off a bit slow for my taste but it soon progressed with a nice pace. The plot in this story was really fantastic, great use of language, really great charcters that you feel connected to, awesome ending and I love how easy it is to read Lili's writing style! The only thing I wasn't all that pleased with was how quickly the book ended! That and how long I have to wait until the next one! This cover is also my favourite so far! ( It's purple, it's shiny, it's a good book :P My Motto) So if you haven't read the series already I suggest you do becuase ' you ain't with the programme!' Just read it.

Hey Guys! Since My Supernatural Showdown starts tomorrow I have decided to post my mailbox today! That way I can post both things! Since I got alot of books last week I decided to cut down this week and only got TWO books :P It was hard but I DID IT! BTW You can expect a review for Jealously by Lili St. Crow for next weekend, here's a hint though *whispers* It is absolutely amazing! Anyway...

I got this one because firstly it's a 2010 debut so I can put it towards the challenge and the cover is just amazinggg. The blurb sounds really sweet too, just a little worried that it's going to be one of those totally depressing novels but *fingers crossed*

The Visibles

Review Time! Last week, I finished The Visibles by Sara Shepard. I love her Pretty Little Liars series so I decided to give this one a go. I didn't realize until half way through that this wasn't meant for YA. This is her first Adult novel *smacks head*. So I was reading it and thinking why is it so depressing?

Anyway, it was kind of a novel that tells the charcters journey to finding herself. You know the ones where the character has no friends blah blah blah unsocial etc. Than she find the guy of her dreams and finds herself etc. Yeah, that kind of novel. I normally tend to stay away from these emotion breakdown charcter ones but I was halfway through this one so there was no point in NOT finishing it. I can't say I enjoyed reading it but I certainly finished and went, yer it was alright. Maybe it's because it's an adult novel dunno... but I didn't really see the point in it. Rating 2/5

( I got this one at the library and at first I thought All the Things we Didn't say and The Visibles were different books so I ended borrowing both than I had to return one coze it was the same book!)

Never Cry Werewolf

Review Time! My themed weeks are gone so we are back to normal bookish posts. However, I hadn't managed to squeeze this review in last week so it just has to slot in this week. Anyway Never Cry Werewolf by Heather Davis. Story about rockstars, rich kids, brat camp and werewolves. this was a really quick read only about 220 pages which is really short compared to all those books I have read lately.

Anyway I enjoyed this one. Partly because it was short and partly because I love reading about rich spoiled kids oh! and the werewolf part. I found that the werewolf part played only a minor part in the whole story though. Even though it was based around that minor part. Another thing about it that because it was really short the story I felt it wasn't really developed enough. Um, this is more of a personal thing but I didn't think Shelby was a good fit of a name. The rest was pretty good. Nothing wrong with the ending or the start. Overall it was still pretty good. Rating 3/5

Raised by Wolves

Review Time! I haven't written a review in so long!!! Anyway, I finished Raised by Wolves by Jennifer Lynn Barnes this week and it was really good. I am continuing with the werewolf theme so this is a werwolfish book :P Well firstly it was really different to any other book I have read in a way that is really hard to explain. You kinda feel like you are the character, I felt like I was actually in the story. I don't if it is just me or something but I find Jessica Lynn Barnes a fantastic writer when it came to emotions. That I felt was the highlight of the story for me. The rest was okay but it really just blended into the rest of the books I have read lately.

It had great characters, a good plot, great start and ending BUT it was 'Just Another Book'. I find that when I read a really good book (aka Glimmerglass) I start expecting more from the book I read after that so it might just be me. I like to compare books and this just wasn't a match for Glimmerglass which was AMAZING x 100 ( and Glimmerglass wasn't even my favourite book all time just one of the great ones :P) So overall it was good nothing wrong with it or anything I wasn't pleased with. It just happened to be the book that got my higher expectations after glimmerglass. Rating - 3/5
