Day Three - All About Dualed + Giveaway

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Book Profile
Name - Dualed (Goodreads)
Author - Elsie Chapman
Genre - Dystopian/ Sci-fi
Release Date - February 26th 2013
You or your Alt? Only one will survive.
The city of Kersh is a safe haven, but the price of safety is high. Everyone has a genetic Alternate—a twin raised by another family—and citizens must prove their worth by eliminating their Alts before their twentieth birthday. Survival means advanced schooling, a good job, marriage—life.
Fifteen-year-old West Grayer has trained as a fighter, preparing for the day when her assignment arrives and she will have one month to hunt down and kill her Alt. But then a tragic misstep shakes West’s confidence. Stricken with grief and guilt, she’s no longer certain that she’s the best version of herself, the version worthy of a future. If she is to have any chance of winning, she must stop running not only from her Alt, but also from love . . . though both have the power to destroy her.
Available - The Book Depository | Fishpond | Amazon | Barnes and Noble
The Insider's Scoop
1. Originally, DUALED was written so that people could receive their assignments to fight their Alts at anytime, not just as teens.
2. The original title was THE ASSIGNMENT.
3. Two of West’s siblings were cut pretty early on in the revision process—brothers named Dess and Silas.
4. I have a really hard time coming up with names for my characters, so even after Dess and Silas were cut, I gave their names to other characters in DUALED.
5. West also had a cat named Hachi. He stuck around for a bit longer than Dess and Silas, but he didn’t make it into the final round of edits, either.
  3. I've seen talk of this book but I'm really interested in it now.
    I think I read somewhere her Alt is a guy? I could have conjured that up due to wishful thinking that he's her love interest LOL - but only if her "twin" isn't like her biological twin...
    Thanks for the giveaway :D
  4. Thank you!
    Love how you kept the same name for others that made it into the final version - they're nice names:)
  5. YAY for Elsie! I had first heard of her and DUALED when I started following the Friday the Thirteeners blog a longggg time ago - and I was very intrigued. I can't wait to read it! It's so close now, to being January, which means to being 2013 as well! And Elsie - I thought THE ASSIGNMENT is a perfectly good title. Apparently Random House disagrees with both of us :)
    Thank you for the interview and giveaway!
