Series Wrap Up - The Luxe

Okay this is my first series wrap which is another blog feature I have decided to add. Series Wrap is really...a series wrap up ;) Basically it's a post I do after I finish a whole series. It's like a collection mini reviews ;) And my frst is going to be about The Luxe series by Anna Godberson ! I have recently finished her whole series in two months ( one last month and three this month).

1) The Luxe (#1)

I quite enjoyed the first book, I loved the 1800's setting for there were many gentlemen and big frocks in that era ;) Very much like Gossip Girl (seriously) I can even match up like half of the charcters with Blair, Serena, Chuck etc. Something I really liked about this book was you really got to know the charcters. You got to know their personalities, their dreams and their desires. Good opening book !

2)Rumours ( #2)

Very unexpected, the events that happened in this book were very very unexcepted. Wasn't my favourite book in the series but was probably the most important for this book was where most of the action happened. This boom really made you pick your sides with which charcter was the better one. Some wanted to make you slap them in the face while others you wanted to wrap your arms around and give a hug.

3) Envy (#3)

Probably my favourite book in the whole series. I loved how we got to see more of Lina ( one of my favourite charcters) in this novel. Well writeen and easy to read, definitely my favourite in the series. Series of events were well planned and I enjoyed this one.

4) Splendor (#4)

Quite disappointed with how this book ended. Not alot of happy endings I don't think. Parts of the book made me want to cry for the characters. Nothing much kinda stood out in this book everything kinda went around in a circle then ended. not my Favourite.

Overall Rating - 3/5 ( Note- I am a VERY harsh reviewer I rarely give anything over a 3, I think I have given a 4 to about thirty books out all the books I have read and I can count on one hand how many 5's I have given out) A 3 means it is worth reading, I found it enjoyable and actually finshed the book ;)

1)Spells by Aprilynne Pike

Release Date - 4th of May 2010

Why? I absolutely LOVED the first book ( Wings + MUST READ) ! Very romantic and made you go ~how cute~ Fantasy mixed with Romance = Good Book (usually) Not to mention that I'm in LOVE with Tamani !!!! I really, really hope that Laurel end up with him and not David because Tamain is just tooooooo cute ;) I have been waiting for the second book for agesssssss ( since last year actually ) so very VERY excited for this one !

Descripton-
"I can’t just storm in and proclaim my intentions. I cant 'steal' you away. I just have to wait and hope that, someday, you’ll ask," Tamani said.
"And if I don't?" Laurel said, her voice barely above a whisper.
"Then I guess I’ll be waiting forever."

Six months have passed since Laurel saved the gateway to the faerie realm of Avalon. Now she must spend her summer there, honing her skills as a Fall faerie. But her human family and friends are still in mortal danger--and the gateway to Avalon is more compromised than ever.
When it comes time to protect those she loves, will she depend on David, her human boyfriend, for help? Or will she turn to Tamani, the electrifying faerie with whom her connection is undeniable?

2) Spirit Bound by Richelle Mead

Release Date - 18th of May 2010

Why? My favourite Vampire series, second favourite series after Mortal Instruments andhome of the smexy vampire Adrian !!!!!!! Okay, I got hooked onto this series over the Christmas break and love it! Wonderful writing style, very cool characters and my top tear jerker ( but than I cry in everything including Alice in Wonderland the movie ). Seriously it was really sad though. Fan-tabulous series and can't wait three weeks arghhhhhh!!!!!

Description - Dimitri gave Rose the ultimate choice. But she chose wrong… After a long and heartbreaking journey to Dimitri’s birthplace in Siberia, Rose Hathaway has finally returned to St. Vladimir’s—and to her best friend, Lissa. It is nearly graduation, and the girls can’t wait for their real lives beyond the Academy’s iron gates to begin. But Rose’s heart still aches for Dimitri, and he's out there, somewhere. She failed to kill him when she had the chance. And now her worst fears are about to come true. Dimitri has tasted her blood, and she knows in her heart that he is hunting her. And if Rose won't join him, he won't rest until he's silenced her...forever.

3) Something like Fate by Susane Colasanti

Release Date- 4th of May
Why? Looking forward to this one, never read anything by Susane (is she a debut author?), but also it looks intriguing (Sucker for Good Covers aka me) and this one just cracked me up! I mean, how funny is it ??? However, the story sounds good too. The Best Friend and the Boyfriend? Sound like stereotyping but this one actually sounds interesting and not like some American Chick Flick you watch on Friday nights ;)

Description- Lani and Erin are bonded for life. One thing that connects them is their fascination of fate. Lani wonders how much of our lives has already been decided and how much we can actually influence. Since the Unknown can unexpectedly change our lives forever, how much can we really control? From the minute Lani meets Jason, she can't deny the intense connection they share. It feels like she's known him forever. She's not sure if he feels it, too. But it doesn't matter. Because Jason is Erin's boyfriend. Lani is determined to ignore her feelings for Jason, no matter how powerful they are, rather than risk hurting her best friend. What if the boy who is your destiny is the one person you can't have?

Rhymes With Witches

Finished this book this morning ( in bed.). So I'm going to review it now that I have had my late lunch and my brains works again. So I picked up this book because I'm a sucker for funky titles and good covers and it turned out to be pretty good. I loved the whole concept of the Bitches being a girl from each class, very different and clever. The Fall fling theme was reallly funny ( You have to read it to find out) and I thought Bitsy's fashion sense was pretty out there. However ( there is always on of these) I didn't like the ending :( It was so sudden, like one minute you would be like getting into the story and the next its THE END. So I gave it a lower rating because of the ending but overall it was a fabulous read. A good change after reading soooooo many Paranormal & Urban Fantasy reads ;) Rating - 3.5/5 (worth reading)

Decription-
Jane dreams of being chosen as the freshman member a dominant school clique made up of one girl from each class. When her wish is granted, and she is offered a place in their group, Jane discovers the terrible price of their particular kind of popularity. There is a sinister secret to their power, one that will change Jane forever. Darkly humorous and dead on, this book will leave readers shivering in recognition.

My Soul to Take

This is a book that i just finished this week by Rachel Vincent. First in the series called Soul Screamers and it was breath- takingly amazinggggg. I loved it, LOVED IT. I've heard other people say that it's nothing special but really I found this book amazing. really. I loved the charcters, the whole plot and the idea of soul screamer ( which is really clever) but how well everything fit together just perfectly. A MUST-READ, definitely worth buying and I can't wait to get my hands on the second book, which if i remeber clearly came out recently! ;)

The Becoming

Okay review #3 Catch up- (my arms are getting sore already)

Anyway, another read that I read was The Becoming by Jeanne C. Stein ( First book of the Anna Strong Series). Again, enjoyed it quite alot, loved the plot, strong heroine and decriptive. However, like Kitty and the Midnight Hour it wasn't anything different. Just another book, it was good but not great, it was descriptive but nothing memorable, strong heroine but she annoyed me sometimes ( you get the point). This is a book that you wouldn't regret picking up but well, nothing really special. Rating - 3/5

Red- Headed Stepchild

Another book I have recently read is Red- Headed Stepchild by Jaye Wells. This is the first book in the Sabina Kane Trilogy and I have to say it was the cover that made me pick up the book first. That amazingggggg shade of red hair (haha). Yer, so I picked this book out of all the books in the world because the shade of red was amazing but I loved the book too. Loved it! It was different, I loved Sabina and Adam ( hope to see more of them together in the next book) and there was lots of action. Definitely a book worth reading, in fact its a must read! ( Even if the shade of red doesn't attract you, the story will) Go pick up a copy today if you haven't read it yet, really worth you're money ;)

Kitty and the Midnight Hour Review

I have read quite a few book lately but haven't gotten around to reviewing them so I have decided to do so on this Saturday Night ( Yer, I know what you're thinking - you have no life right?) Anyway, the first book I havent gotten around to reviewing is *drum roll* Kitty and the Midnight Hour by Carrie Vaughn. This is the first book of the Kitty Norville series and I decided to read it after reading the blurb on Goodreads ( God Bless Goodreads). Anyhow, it was a good book overall. Very interesting and capture my attention all the way through. However, there wasn't much in the book that made it stand out from the rest of the Urban Fantasy and Paranormal books I have read. It was just another book. However, I really loved Kitty and Cormac, it was a pity that they didn't get together D: but it an entertaining read. I would rate it 3/5 which is pretty good and definitely worth reading !

Saturday, April 17, 2010

I haven't posted for a while so I decided to post a review of a fantastic book I have read recently. I recently finished Soulless By Gail Carriger (The Parasol Protectorate, #1) and LOVED IT. I was hooked on from the first page, definitely worth reading. Fantastic plot, hilarious charcters and I loved the 1800's setting. Very different from anything I have ever read which is probably why I found so memorable. You don't find many stories set in the 1800's about werewolves & vampires ! Again, fantasic, funny, enjoyable read!

Description-

Alexia Tarabotti is laboring under a great many social tribulations. First, she has no soul. Second, she's a spinster whose father is both Italian and dead. Third, she was rudely attacked by a vampire, breaking all standards of social etiquette. Where to go from there? From bad to worse apparently, for Alexia accidentally kills the vampire -- and then the appalling Lord Maccon (loud, messy, gorgeous, and werewolf) is sent by Queen Victoria to investigate. With unexpected vampires appearing and expected vampires disappearing, everyone seems to believe Alexia responsible. Can she figure out what is actually happening to London's high society? Will her soulless ability to negate supernatural powers prove useful or just plain embarrassing? Finally, who is the real enemy, and do they have treacle tart?
