Author's Own Message ( ie when they talk about themselves :P)

I'm so excited to be a part of this Christmas Debutante Event (thank you for including me, Lisa)!  Christmas happens to be my favorite holiday...and if I weren't a writer, I might apply to be a holiday elf.  Not only do I get overly excited about the magic and good will of the holiday season, I'm pretty sure that I could pull off sporting an authentic elf outfit because I'm only 5'2".  But enough about my elfing ambitions, because I'm a writer....and I love it.  Why do I love it?  No, it's not the pull-your-hair-out tedious revision process, or the frustrating uncertainty of the book world, or the bite-your-fingernails-to-nubs nerves that reviews bring on.  In fact, all of those aspects could make a half-hearted writer look for the nearest writerly exit and never come back.  What I love about being a writer is the fun of taking an idea spark and creating a whole fictional world with it through the eyes of the characters that I bring to life.  It's this magical creative journey that makes all the uncertainty and nerves of the publication process totally worth it.  Oh, yeah...and getting to work in pajamas isn't a bad part of the gig either.  All in all, I guess in some ways a writing profession parallels an elfing profession....but instead of creating toys and bringing holiday cheer to life, writers create stories and bring characters to life... and there's a lot of fun and magic that go into both.  The big difference is that pajamas are probably more comfy than an elf suit (this is pure assumption, not based on experience).

  1. I read this book and reviewed it. I enjoyed it and thought it was a good read to get me out of all that heavy 'Vampire, trolls and wizards mood I was in (does that even make sense?)

I love the dream debutante dress she chose!

  2. I love that debutante dress! I'm a shorty like you. My baby brother is now 8 inches taller than me and has been calling me an elf recently. We could be holiday elves together. :D
