Dream Debutante Dress -
Elana's dream debutante dress, eh, jeans |
Author's Own Message ( ie when they talk about themselves :P)
I wish I could experience my first kiss again, tell the mean girl where to shove it, and have cool superpowers like reading minds and controlling fire. Using my boring human powers, I graduated from Southern Utah University with Summa Cum Laude honors in Elementary Education with a minor in Mathematics. I started my teaching career as an upper grade music and art specialist. After a four-year stint in 3rd grade, I am currently the technology specialist.
In my world, Oreos and bacon would be the only food groups. Everyone would drive 10 over the speed limit, and winter would be eliminated as a season. As it is, I live with my husband and two kids in central Utah, get cited when I drive too fast and eat Oreos only on special occasions.
I started writing to unload my emotional baggage, and it felt so good I didn’t stop! I’m not one of those “I’ve wanted to write since age eight” people, not that there’s anything wrong with that.
As for a dress, I’m not what you’d call fashionable. In fact, I need someone to nominate me for “What Not To Wear.” Therefore, I’m picking this frawesome pair of jeans to wear to the Debutante Ball. Rebel? Perhaps…
And you might be saying, “But Elana, those are men’s jeans.” And again, I’d remind you of my less-than fashion sense and urge you to call Clinton and Stacy, stat.

Thanks Elana! You know I never thought I would have a debutante who didn't pick a dress to where but a pair of jeans! ( men's jeans) but you know what? I love it! I guess you can't have a debutante ball without at least one rebel right Elana? :P
Badass Bookie xx
Great post. I learned so much about Elana I didn't know. I'm like you, no debutante dress. Can't wait to read your book.
ReplyDeleteThis is Badass - er, wait, that's a terrible joke. Elana is the best! This is a great blog you have here, so I've become a follower.

ReplyDeleteElana's an awesome blogger. I pretty much stalk her online. And Possession's got an incredible cover.
ReplyDeleteEh, the debutante dress :P
LOL, thanks for the fun interview! Can't wait for Possession.
ReplyDeleteYay! Thanks Lisa, for having me--and everyone for coming over.
ReplyDeleteJeans, FTW!
Goooooo, Elana!
ReplyDeleteFun to learn a little more about Elana!
ReplyDeleteIt was great learning more about Elana! I love the post!
ReplyDeleteElana is so awesome. I would gladly move to her world of no winter, Oreos & bacon, and fast driving.
ReplyDeleteFunny message :) Yay for the rebel attitude !! ;p
ReplyDelete(and a huge YAY for Oreos!!)
I would wear jeans to the ball too. Go Elena!!! I will check out her websites next. Thanks for another great post!!
ReplyDeleteI like that you are a teacher. I taught 2nd and first. Now I'm a bookie (jk)... maybe.
ReplyDeleteElana rocks, to be sure! Love your blog too.

I have threatened my family within an inch of their lives. If Clinton and Stacy show up at my door - they're all going to pay! :)
ReplyDeleteJemi-ha! I sort of wish they would. There's a knock right now! ;)

Thanks for this post. I love reading about authors and getting to know them
ReplyDeleteJeans are my dream dress too :)
Okay, I'll nominate you for What Not to Wear for your Deb dress choice. But, I'm with you on the Oreos and bacon!
ReplyDeleteLove learning these little tidbits.
ReplyDeleteGreat interview! I saw Punky Brewster on What Not to Wear this year. No one could be as bad as her...no one!
ReplyDeleteJen @ I Read Banned Books
Yes, I belong the the I love Elana club, who doesn't, she rocks. The jeans? Inspired, so Elana.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the Oreos and bacon :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great interview! I can't wait for Possession!!!!!
Go Elana!
ReplyDeleteOh! That reminds me to put bacon on my shopping list. THANKS! :)
Elana is badass.
ReplyDeleteGreat interview!
ReplyDeleteJeans are a great "dress". Being comfortable and being yourself are two things we need to teach young girls more about.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the publishing of your first YA book; I'm very excited to read Possession!
Haha great post! Totally loving the jeans for her ideal Debutante dress. She's a rebel and we love it :D
ReplyDeleteI love What Not To Wear. It's funny too because I was just thinking to myself, why guy jeans and then it was answered. Oreos and bacon rock my socks but my life would be nothing without winter. Great interview!
ReplyDeleteI just love that she picked jeans. Too funny.
ReplyDeleteI used to watch What Not To Wear all the time. Love that show; it was funny and the makeovers were great. Gotta love jeans. Great post!
ReplyDeleteSo Elena just need the casual one.Nice
ReplyDeleteJeans? Cool. Not my choice, but we could be friends ;)
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't want to experience my first kiss again, I did tell the mean girl where to stick it (I still can't believe I did that) I would totally be in for the cool superpowers though.
ReplyDeleteI think this would've been my answer to the perfect prom dress a few years ago as well but I kind of discovered that I can actually wear dresses, look good at them and feel good as well so you'd probably never catch me in jeans at a prom-like event.
ReplyDeleteyour not alone Elana everyone want to tell the mean girl off.Jeans are trendy and comfortable. What a amazing intriguing interview!
ReplyDeleteJeans beat dresses any time, so comfy! I could wear mine 24-7. And yes, oreos, so many childhood memories.
ReplyDeleteI second you on oreos and bacon, although it wouldn't be too healthy.
ReplyDeleteAt least Elana will be comfortable in her dream debutante dress :) Oh, and now I'm craving Oreos.
ReplyDeleteI love this post, and your uniqueness! It's very inspiring. Thank you!

Jeans! For the win! :D
ReplyDeleteI love the jeans idea! I'm a denim girl myself!
ReplyDeleteI don't know how I'd deal in a world with no winter (and only bacon and Oreos since I don't do Oreos), but I really do want to read her book!
ReplyDeletegreat interview
ReplyDeletethe jeans crap me up but it seems so interesting why chose it :)
LOLOLOL at the jeans. I am a new fan of bacon, better late than never :D
ReplyDeleteGreat post.I'm going to check her blog now ...Sounds interesting:)
