Dream Debutante Dress - Pretty...so many butterflies :) *Swoon*
Notes from a YA Debutante
1. I really like lists.
1a. Especially numbered lists.
1b. But I try not to discriminate against bulleted lists.
2. I'm also a huge fan of parenthetical asides. (In fact, I frequently have to go back and cut parenthesis out of emails and blog posts because they're not always necessary. Even though they should be.)
3. Actually, I like punctuation in general. Since I tend not to use curse words, a few years ago I decided to start swearing to punctuation.
3a. Now I say things like OMC! Oh My Commas, of course.
3b. Once, my agent emailed me and said, "bullcommas!" I bet you can guess what that is.
4. About my dress: early in 2011, my agent emailed a link to a short butterfly print dress that looked like it was wrapped in plastic and then Bedazzled. Authoress Anonymous searched for and discovered another ridiculous butterfly dress. My husband, equally competitive, started Googling hideous butterfly dresses. This is the one they found that was still sort of pretty, in spite of the epic silliness.
5. In fact, now that we're talking about butterflies, I'll be honest: I see them everywhere. On clothes, hanging out with grass, on pictures, on other books, in guest blog posts I make where I wasn't expecting extra butterflies . . .

Everyone make Jodi feel welcome!!! ;) I'm sure quite a umber of you have already heard about Jodi and her debut - Incarnate! Jodi, unlike you punctuation is one of my least favourite things however I do substitute swear words with words like "PERIWINKLE" so I would be like "oh, periwinkle!" Haha. I googled butterfly dresses and what do you think of this one? ( I actually think it's quite pretty...)
Badass Bookie xx
I love lists and punctuation too! Just not quite to the extent where I would substitute cuss words with punctuation. The model looks pretty uncomfortable wearing that dress.
ReplyDeleteWelcome, Jodi!
And nice find with the butterfly dress, Lisa! It's preeeeetty.
I absolutely love the dresses!! Also, the punctuation spoilers are just so fun :D
ReplyDeleteHahaha!! Great interview and wow those dresses are pretty!!
ReplyDeleteOooo!!! I love those dresses! Great guest post! I'm a big fan of Incarnate!

Gorgeous dresses. I love Incarnate and was tickled to I read this post :)
ReplyDeleteGreat interview. I'm a big fan of lists, punctuation and butterflies too. Loving both dresses and looking forward to reading Incarnate.
ReplyDeleteOoo, pretty dresses. Lol, loved the random facts, they were indeed incredibly random:) Incarnate is one of the most anticipated debut novels of 2012, by what I can see, so congratulations on that.
ReplyDeleteOMC swearing in puncuation is genius! =P
ReplyDeleteit's much better than saying "what the fridge?"...
so yeah i'm gonna steal that idea hehe...
oh and both the butterfly dresses are awesome!
OH MY GOD. THE DRESSES ARE GORGEOUS <3333 I want one tooo!!! LOL i love using parentheses as well :D
ReplyDeleteWow, the dresses are so pretty! I can't imagine wearing them myself! I love butterflies, they are such a beautiful insect they colour the world! Thank you for sharing! :)
ReplyDeleteNice butterfly dresses. :) After this post I searched for my own dress. We should have a gathering and wear our dresses! That would be rad. :)
ReplyDeleteI like lists too.
ReplyDeleteAnd the Incarnate cover is just so gorgeous! I love it!
Oh I heart the dress! butterflies :D
ReplyDeleteGreat review! That is one helluva dress :)
ReplyDeleteOh, I LOVE the dress! :) It looks so cute! <3 If I ever need to attend a costume party, I'll remember this one. <3 I love lists too! I like making lists of things that should be done, should be bought, and should be considered!
ReplyDeleteI can't say I like the butterfly dress Jodi found, but as for the second dress, it's beautiful. It's hard to find a pretty butterfly dress, that doesn't look awkward of course! :)
ReplyDeleteI love butterfly! Such a lovely interview, I have great time reading this. :)
ReplyDeleteooh my gosh I love those dresses!! Butterflies are beautiful. :)
ReplyDeleteI love numbered lists :) And swearing in punctuation, so funny! Why didn't I think of that? ;) Thanks for the fun post!
ReplyDeleteOh, and Lisa, I think that dress is pretty, too :)
Wow I LOVE those dresses!!!!!
ReplyDeleteButterflies rule!
ReplyDeleteThe dresses shown are fantastic to look at but I don't know if I would actually dare wear one.
ReplyDeleteI am surprised that Jodi admits to being a grammar freak with her love of punctuation. It seems to be an aspect of writing that is too often forgotten these days.

I love both dresses (especially Lisa's one)! Now that I've googled 'butterfly dress' and have you guys seen this sweet blue dress? This dress is just gorgeous!

Oh my god I am in love.. first the cover of the book, now these dresses! I want stuff with butterflies now!
ReplyDeleteI love butterflies! It's on my blog and on my wedding card :) (well..that was 3 years ago but still..)
ReplyDeleteWow the last dress is beautiful *o* I love so much the cover of this book :)
ReplyDeletebuterfly....i couldn't put this dress but whoah
ReplyDeletethe butterfly dress looks great
ReplyDeleteJodi! Love the dresses! In the next few weeks I'll blog about another butterfly dress that I think you will like :)
ReplyDeleteI really like both dresses!! I'm also a big fan of butterflies. I blame my mother for that. And I blame my father for making me a fan of short, concise sentences. Ah, punctuation! Unfortunately, his influence did not manage to resist the influence of French with its never-ending run-on sentences where you can have a full page of a book with no full stop! ;)
ReplyDeleteI love butterflies! And I'd do pretty much anything to have that dress on the last picture *sigh*
ReplyDeleteThose dresses look very pretty and butterfly-covered :) Incarnate sounds really great, and so are lists :) Lists are very helpful :) Hello new author to watch :)
ReplyDeleteI knew there were other chronic list-makers out there! Oh, and I, too, love butterflies. Butterflies were the symbol on all of my wedding stationary and even my cake knife set.
ReplyDeletebullcommas, haha that's awesome!
ReplyDeleteI love Jodi, she's such a cool person. And I'm so happy I finally get a chance to read her work.
Great post!
That dress pattern looks like the pattern on a Monarch butterfly's wing. It looks AWESOME! Very surreal, fairy-like.:)
ReplyDeletemust have the pretty! This book looks great! Nice dresses, too.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
OMG! Love those dresses! I wish I owned them! haha. Reminds me of a butterfly princess or fairies. Love ya Jodi!
ReplyDelete"bullcommas" LoL I love that!!!
ReplyDeleteThose butterfly dresses are so pretty!!! :D
I heart butterflys!!!
ReplyDeleteLatoya
Great interview! Love the dresses! I have always been a fan of butterflies!
ReplyDeleteGreat interview! awesome dress :D
ReplyDelete- juhina
Oh wow, such awesome dresses! I can't decide between the two!! Great post - I adore that she 'swears' with punctuation! Priceless!
ReplyDeletesuch a beautiful dress! and it totally matches the incarnate cover haha!
ReplyDeleteBoth Butterfly dresses are GORGEOUS!!! me = want. NOW. Great interview! I have to use filler ins for swearwords as well :P hahaha bullcommas is a great one :D
ReplyDeleteI'd feel a little silly in the first dress with plastic or silk butterflies all over my dress, but the second dress is okay. I like the outfit in the book much better! It would depend on the outing. Both would work well for a garden party, but then you'd have to find a hat???
ReplyDeleteI am a huge fan of puctuation!! I overuse the exclamation point and commas. I will now start to swear in flowers and punctuation. It's much more ladylike!
I love the Shenandoah Valley. My mom comes from a tiny and I do mean tiny (3 buildings including the Presbyterian Church) town, Williamsville south west of Hburg. They go to Staunton for groceries. Three mountains away!! Beautiful country!
Oh, I'm also long winded/writing.
Heather
Ooooh butterflies!!! I want a dress like the second one lol
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to read Incarnate!
I love the butterfly dress! So beautiful! :D
ReplyDeleteOh, Lisa, that butterfly dress you found is gooooorgeous :D Nice find!
ReplyDeleteI do the punctuation thing sometimes too! I've seen Jodi using her punctuation-based expletives around the Internet :) Can't wait to read this book!
Wow love the dresses so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to read book sounds like a really good read.
Me and punctuation don't always get along haha, but I do LOVE lists!!! I also love butterflies but I'm not so sure about the dresses haha. The first one was kid of pretty in a Paris runway sort of way, but the second was kinda just scary :) I absolutely cannot wait to read this book. It sounds fantastic. A BIG congrats!!!
ReplyDeleteI love making lists as well, from to-read books to to-do things. I am not a fan of butterflies but I love the cover of Incarnate! Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteOh my commas!! I like puntuation, too. I always put lots of commas in my classwork , even if it's not necessary. (:
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to read your debute book!!
I love butterflies but unfortunately I've never found dresses like those in your photos. Amazing choice, anyway :)
