In My Mailbox #2

Hey Guys! It's In my Mailbox Time!!! In My Mailbox is a weekly meme hosted by Kristi @ The Story Siren. This is where you share the contents of your mailbox with the rest of us or in simpler words all the books you bought/borrowed/ got for review. Anyway, in my mailbox this week I got...

  1. The Gettysburg Approach to Writing & Speaking like a Professional ( For Review) - By Phil Gettysburg I usually don't review non-fiction or self-help books but I mage an exception this time because at least it is bookishly related :)
  2. Homeoming ( Ghostgirl #2) - By Tonya Hurley I read the first book at the start of last year and fell in love with the cover :3
  3. Playing with Fire ( Skulduggery Pleasant #2) - Derek Landy I met the author at the start of the year and love these books! I think I may be abit old for them but they are soooo funny :P
  4. Living Dead Girl - By Elizabeth Scott Everyone has read but me so I'm going to read it too, besides I have heard some great things about this one!
  5. The Hollow - By Jessica Verday It looks Pretty :P

Well that's all for this week!

Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief

Okay, review time! Last night I pulled an all nighter when I was supposed to be doing my exam preparation to finish...Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief!!!! btw guys, it was totally worth it coze it waas AWESOME!!!!

Like totally awesome that I want to be half god too. Loved the plot, characters and the whole greek mythology thing. Shame, my humanities exam is on Rome or this would have been good preparation T_T oh well! Yup awesome awesome book, can't wait to see the movie when it comes out on DVD ( I missed out at the movies -annoying) I really can't critise this in anyway coze it was really THAT good, however. HOWEVER, I'm only rating it 4/5 because it was abit too young for me. I liked it but i couldn't really to it in anyway like no romance or teen problems you know???? So yer fantastic book go check it out (totally worth your money) Fantastic for light reading and yer 4/5

Decription - This computer won't let me copy & paste (arghhhhh) but anyway I will edit this out later but basically someone stole Zeus' lighning blot and Percy and his friends have like ten days to find it before a bIG BIG war. (that's a lame description but that's the jest) It more interestong than what I wrote ;P

ps- I have exam block Monday to Thursday so I won't be able to post until Thurday Night meaning Three Wishes Wednesday would be posted thurday AGAIN. Sorry Guys !!!! I still luv you all don't worry ;P

Skulduggery Pleasant

Okay, I haven't really been able to post anything this week except for the three wishes wednesday yesterday but I have managed to sqeeze two and half and an eight of a book in this week and since both were pretty amazing they deserve to be reviewed. So firstly Skulduggery Pleasant by Derek Landy.

Before I start this book is a middle grade novel (I think) but I think anyone would it. It was pretty amazing, very, Very funky. I absolutley love the author's writing style it's smart, witty and sarcastic ( good mix). So are you wondering what this book is about????

Okay, I will tell you then *sigh* (haha) 12 yr old Stephanie Edgley's favourite uncle has just dies for an 'unknown reason' (cough cough murder cough) and has left all his property and royals to Steph (did I mention he was a writer???) Anyway, she meets a dectective who happens to be a skeleton (Skulduggery Pleasant) and together they are trying to solve her uncles murder and save the world from evil sorcerer *who's name I forgot* Anyway that's pretty much an outline of the book. You may think oh I have nothing on Harry Potter style books but this one was purely amazing like Derek had this very clever way of charcters going by a different name from their true name ( because true names hold power) and so he came up with names like Tanith Low, Ghastly Bespoke, Valkyrie Cain and Skulduggery Pleasant ( how clever aye????) I even tried making one for myself but......*epic fail*

Anyway great book, very very very Kewl and yer go grab yourslef a copy. On a side note, I actually met the author in March this year and attened one of his 'sessions' (talk sessions kinda things). I also got the third book signed (they didn't have the first or second book sooo yer SOLD OUT) and, AND i got him to write me a note to excuse me from being late to class ( This was a school thing where I met like 7 different authors including Jack Heath *funniest guy EVER*, Derek Landy, Penny Tangey and some others. Some of the authors I should have met were Marcus Zusak, Patrick Ness and Melina Marchetta) but anyway so yer we wrote me a really really awesome note + i got a photo ;P

Rating - 4/5 (*gasp*)
