Cover Reveal - The Goddess Test ( Aus Edition) Looks familar?

A few weeks ago I received an ARC of The Goddess Test from Harlequin Australia and I was dumbstruck by the cover. Not only is it completely different from the US Cover, it's a cover that's been seen on two other 2011 major releases! On the Bright side, The Vespertine hasn't been released in Australia yet and I actually like the The Goddess Test cover best! Are you seeing triple as well?

  1. The Vespertine has not been released here in AUS yet, so I guess it's not as bad as it may seem! Although I do have to admit, I like the US cover a lot better.

  3. I hate cover repeats. Too many covers are made from stock photos lately. I actually like The Vespertine's version best I think!

  5. It's interesting to see the way one image can portray a lot of different stories; but I'm not a fan. Of the 3 covers, The Goddess Test would be my favourite.

  6. It's so weird that they use the same picture for different books! I know they probably don't have unlimited access to nice pictures, but still. I like the US cover for The Goddess Test better, but compared to the Vespertine cover and Dark Angel cover I think the Australian cover looks best.

  7. Seeing quadruple, actually!! If you check out the US cover for Janet Fox's Forgiven---its the same girl and dress, just cropped and at a slightly different angle! :)

  8. *grins* You're lucky the extra entries for my giveaway are gone or else you would've spoilt it! :P I had entrants get the title of the book that looked exactly like the Australian Goddess Test hehe. Said giveaway is HERE if anyone wants to check it out ;)

  9. Heh! That's kind of funny! Couldn't see the third cover for some reason, but pretty sure I get the idea!! :)

  10. Wow! My guess would be that the image of the girl is a stock image.

  11. That is insane. If I were the authors I think I'd feel a little ripped off. I think I'd want a cover that is distinguishable from anything else. I know the author doesn't have a choice just saying I think I'd feel a little cheated. Great job catching it!

  12. I'd hate to be the poor authors. If I was an author and I went all the effort to write a novel there would be no chance that I would let them use the same cover as another book on my cover. Just no. Even if they dont get a choice, I just think they should use the same basic image. I like The Vesperine one best. Colours work better I think.

  13. In case anyone is interested to know, I'm actually the model in the photo. The image has been used on The Vespertine (US), Eine magische Sommernacht (Germany), Dark Angel (UK), and The Goddess Test (Australia). Other shots from the same shoot in the same dress are on Forgiven (US) by Janet Fox and Un jour tu me reviendras (France) by Lisa Kleypas. I'm fairly certain the cover of La lune voilée (France) by Karen Robards was from the same shoot, too, but sometimes it's hard to keep them straight. :)
