The same goes for Follow Friday which hosted by Parajunkee @ Parajunkee's View Of course, there is always a twist which is a question. My answer to this week's questions is- my favourite authors so far this year would be Richelle Mead ( Spirit Bound), Ally Carter (Hiest Society), Aprilynne Pike (Spells) and Simone Elklese (Perfect Chemistry) Their writing style is very easy to read and somehow I can always feel connected to the characters. Lovely plots too! PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT IF YOU ARE HOPPING BY SO I CAN REPAY THE FAVOUR!

This Post Brightened My Day ( Part Two)

Hey Guys *waves* how are we all? I decided to continue on with my fav quotes from the Mortal Instruments series since there are so many of them. I just LOVE Cassandra Clare, I mean how can she write so much witty stuff and I can't even figure out a good comeback half the time? Life isn't fair *sigh* Now I'm down again, I going to read some quotes....

Fav Quotes - (Mortal Instruments)

"You see, cuckoos are parasites. They lay their eggs in other birds' nests. When the egg hatches, the baby cuckoo pushes the other baby birds out of the nest. The poor parent birds work themselves to death trying to find enough food to feed the enormous cuckoo child who has murdered their babies and taken their places."

"Enormous?" said Jace. "Did you just call me fat?"
"It was an analogy."
"I am not fat."
— Cassandra Clare (City of Ashes)

"Can I help you with something?'

Clary turned instant traitor against her gender. "Those girls on the otherside of the car are staring at you."
Jace assumed an air of mellow gratification. 'Of course they are,'he said, 'I am stunningly attractive."
— Cassandra Clare (City of Bones)

"Is standing by the window muttering about blood something he does all the time?" asked Simon.
"No," Jace said. "Sometimes he sits on the couch and does it."
— Cassandra Clare (City of Ashes)

"You said you were going for a walk!? What kind of walk takes six hours?"
"A long one?"
— Cassandra Clare (City of Glass)

"You guessed? You must have been pretty sure, considering you could have killed me."
"I was ninety percent sure."
"I see," Clary said. There must have been something in her voice, because he turned to look at her. Her hand cracked across his face, a slap that rocked him back on his heels. He put his hands on his cheek, more in surprise than pain.
"What the hell was that for?"
"The other ten percent."
— Cassandra Clare

"So when the moon's only partly full, you only feel a little wolfy?"

"You could say that."
"Well, you can go ahead and hang your head out the car window if you feel like it."
"I'm a werewolf, not a golden retriever."
— Cassandra Clare

"Investigation?" Isabelle laughed. "Now we're detectives? Maybe we should all have code names."

Good idea," said Jace. "I shall be Baron Hotschaft Von Hugenstein."
— Cassandra Clare (City of Bones)

"Out of the corner of her eye she thought she saw Jace shoot her a look of white rage--but when she glanced at him, he looked as he always did: easy, confident, slightly bored.

In future, Clarissa," he said, "it might be wise to mention that you already have a man in your bed, to avoid such tedious situations."
You invited him into bed?" Simon demanded, looking shaken.
Ridiculous, isn't it?" said Jace. "We would never have all fit."
I didn't invite him into bed," Clary snapped. "We were just kissing."
Just kissing?" Jace's tone mocked her with its false hurt. "How swiftly you dismiss our love."
— Cassandra Clare (City of Bones)

Turn that frown upside down, I love you forever& always Jace Wayland :P

Never Cry Werewolf

Review Time! My themed weeks are gone so we are back to normal bookish posts. However, I hadn't managed to squeeze this review in last week so it just has to slot in this week. Anyway Never Cry Werewolf by Heather Davis. Story about rockstars, rich kids, brat camp and werewolves. this was a really quick read only about 220 pages which is really short compared to all those books I have read lately.

Anyway I enjoyed this one. Partly because it was short and partly because I love reading about rich spoiled kids oh! and the werewolf part. I found that the werewolf part played only a minor part in the whole story though. Even though it was based around that minor part. Another thing about it that because it was really short the story I felt it wasn't really developed enough. Um, this is more of a personal thing but I didn't think Shelby was a good fit of a name. The rest was pretty good. Nothing wrong with the ending or the start. Overall it was still pretty good. Rating 3/5

This Post Brightened My Day ( Part One)

Hello my little poppets! I was abit down today with no apparent reason ( I know pretty pathetic) but it was one of those days. Anyway when I'm down I like to read funny quotes from my favourite books. Some of my favourtie quotes come from  the Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra ( I salute you ! I love you even if you have never met me!!!!!) Anyway I decided to share them with you so they can brighten up you day!

My Fav Quotes - ( Mortal Instruments) note- I'm cracking even as I write this (literally LOL)

"Have you fallen in love with the wrong person yet?'
Jace said, "Unfortunately, Lady of the Haven, my one true love remains myself."
..."At least," she said, "you don't have to worry about rejection, Jace Wayland."
Not necessarily. I turn myself down occasionally, just to keep it interesting."
— Cassandra Clare (City of Bones)

"I don't want to be a man,' said Jace. 'I want to be an angst-ridden teenager who can't confront his own inner demons and takes it out verbally on other people instead.'
Well,' said Luke, 'you're doing a fantastic job."
— Cassandra Clare (City of Ashes)

Jesus!" Luke exclaimed.

Actually, it's just me," said Simon. "Although I've been told the resemblance is startling."
— Cassandra Clare

"We came to see Jace. Is he alright?"
"I don't know," Magnus said. "Does he normally just lie on the floor like that without moving?"
— Cassandra Clare (City of Ashes)

"Not everything is about you," Clary said furiously.

"Possibly," Jace said, "but you do have to admit that the majority of things are."
— Cassandra Clare (City of Glass)

"Do you remember back at the hotel when you promised that if we lived, you’d get dressed up in a nurse’s outfit and give me a sponge bath.

"It was Simon who promised you the sponge bath."
"As soon as I’m back on my feet, handsome."
"I knew we should have left you a rat."
— Cassandra Clare (City of Bones)

"Well, I’m not kissing the mundane,’ said Jace. ‘I’d rather stay down here and rot.’
Forever?’ said Simon. ‘Forever’s an awfully long time.’
Jace raised his eyebrows. ‘I knew it,’ he said. ‘You want to kiss me, don’t you?"
— Cassandra Clare (City of Ashes)

"One of the Silent Brothers is here to see you. Hodge sent me to wake you up. Actually he offered to wake you himself, but since it's 5 a.m., I figured you'd be less cranky if you had something nice to look at.

Meaning you?'-clary
What else?'-jace"
— Cassandra Clare (City of Bones)

And the one Cassandra Clare personally wrote for me *wink wink*-
"I am a badass, and I recognize that you, too, are a badass."
— Cassandra Clare

In My Mailbox #8

Hola Amigos! It's in my mailbox time! In My mailbox is a weekly meme start by The Story Siren. We all just share the bookish goodies we got throughout the week basically :P I have been trying to cut down on the books since I have a massive TBR pile so this week I got....

1) Splendor Falls by Rosemary Clement- Moore
I just had to get this one when I saw the pretty purple cover. I am a SUCKER for purple things.Plus it sounds so good. It has the sweetest blurb on the back about a 'mysterious romance' I just had to get it.( the description from goodreads isn't nearly as good).

Description- Sylvie Davis is a ballerina who can’t dance. A broken leg ended her career, but Sylvie’s pain runs deeper. What broke her heart was her father’s death, and what’s breaking her spirit is her mother’s remarriage—a union that’s only driven an even deeper wedge into their already tenuous relationship.

Uprooting her from her Manhattan apartment and shipping her to Alabama is her mother’s solution for Sylvie’s unhappiness. Her father’s cousin is restoring a family home in a town rich with her family’s history. And that’s where things start to get shady. As it turns out, her family has a lot more history than Sylvie ever knew. More unnerving, though, are the two guys that she can’t stop thinking about. Shawn Maddox, the resident golden boy, seems to be perfect in every way. But Rhys—a handsome, mysterious foreign guest of her cousin’s—has a hold on her that she doesn’t quite understand. Then she starts seeing things. Sylvie’s lost nearly everything—is she starting to lose her mind as well?

2) Wanted by Sara Shepard
The eighth book of the Pretty Little Liars series. Just a heads up I'm ADDICTED to this series. Designer brands, pretty little liars and the mysterys of Rosewood an excellent way to spend my sunday mornings :P

Description- In Rosewood, majestic estates sprawl for acres, and Tiffany toggle bracelets dangle from every girl's wrist. But not all that glitters is gold, and the town harbors secrets darker than anyone could imagine—like the truth about what really happened the night Alison DiLaurentis went missing. . . . Back in middle school, Ali plucked Emily, Hanna, Aria, and Spencer from obscurity and turned them into the beautiful, popular girls everyone wanted to be. Ali was the best friend they ever had. But she also made them do terrible things and taunted them with their worst secrets. Now, three years later, all their questions about Ali have finally been answered and they can put this awful chapter of their lives behind them. Or so they think.
Not every story has a happy ending, especially when four pretty little liars have done so many wicked things. In the dramatic conclusion of Sara Shepard's bestselling Pretty Little Liars series, Emily, Hanna, Aria, and Spencer could get everything they've ever wanted—unless A has one more horrifying twist in store.

That's all I got this week! What did you get?

Raised by Wolves

Review Time! I haven't written a review in so long!!! Anyway, I finished Raised by Wolves by Jennifer Lynn Barnes this week and it was really good. I am continuing with the werewolf theme so this is a werwolfish book :P Well firstly it was really different to any other book I have read in a way that is really hard to explain. You kinda feel like you are the character, I felt like I was actually in the story. I don't if it is just me or something but I find Jessica Lynn Barnes a fantastic writer when it came to emotions. That I felt was the highlight of the story for me. The rest was okay but it really just blended into the rest of the books I have read lately.

It had great characters, a good plot, great start and ending BUT it was 'Just Another Book'. I find that when I read a really good book (aka Glimmerglass) I start expecting more from the book I read after that so it might just be me. I like to compare books and this just wasn't a match for Glimmerglass which was AMAZING x 100 ( and Glimmerglass wasn't even my favourite book all time just one of the great ones :P) So overall it was good nothing wrong with it or anything I wasn't pleased with. It just happened to be the book that got my higher expectations after glimmerglass. Rating - 3/5

Read -a-Like : Werewolves

Hey Guys! I like these lists so much I decided to do another. They were started by Karin @ Summer Break Reading Challenge for Activity #8 but I like them so much I'm going to do another one. So this week I'm featuring wolfy reads -

1) Shiver & Linger by Maggie Stiefvatar
The first series that pops up in my mind when I think werewolf. I have read Shiver which is really sweet and can't wait to get my hands on Linger which should come out tomorrow! Beautifully written and easy to read, really good series for those who are new to werewolf fiction.

2) Moonlight, Full moon, Dark of the Moon & Shadow of the Moon by Rachel Hawthorne
I haven't actually read this series but I have been keepingan eye on it and have read mixed reviews about this one. I guess I can't say what I thought about it yet but werewolves and love what could go wrong?

3) Sister Red by Jackson Pearce
A 2010 debut I pretty sure, haven't read this one yet either so not my opinion, but I have heard it's a beautiful novel that has woven the fairytale with the modern world.

4) Never Cry Werewolf by Heather Davis
This one is on top of my TBR pile and I have already read some of it so technically I'm currently reading it. The plot sounds pretty awesome and all so check it out.

5) Claire de Lune by Christine Johnson
Another 2010 debut, haven't read it YET but it's been on my wishlist since like forever so it can't hurt to go check it out.

6) Raised by Wolves by Jennifer Lynn Barnes
Currently reading this one, and so far so good got another 100 or so pages but it's got an interesting plot.

Well that's my werewolf read-a-like list notice how I didn't feature books with both vampires and werwolves? I don't count them as werewolf books they are mixed themes that's why.

In My Mailbox #7

Hola Amigos! It's in my Mailbox time! so much for work with the books in my tbr pile. I got another three!!!! yes, THREE!!!!!! *confession* My name is Lisa and I'm addicted to books. (Links to Goodreads, descriptions taken from there too!) Anyway, this week I got....

1) Princess of the Midnight Ball by Jessica Day George
Princess of Glass recently came out but i couldn't find it so I got this instead. it's got a pretty cover.

Description- The Brothers Grimm tale The Twelve Dancing Princesses is vibrantly retold and set in a fictionalized nineteenth-century Europe. Galen, a soldier (and knitter) returning home from war, encounters an old woman who gives him an invisibility cloak and yarn possessing magical powers. While working as a gardener at the palace, he encounters the princess, Rose, and her 11 younger sisters. Because of a secret bargain their mother made with the evil King Under Stone, the princesses are cursed to dance each night till their shoes are worn ragged. Aided by the good magic held in his yarn, Galen solves the puzzle that has stumped many a prince and earns Rose’s love and hand in marriage. Though cursed and in need of rescue, the sisters are feisty and cunning—not passive victims of their fate. Galen’s magical knitting patterns will appeal to teens fond of this trendy hobby.

2) Fallen Grace by Mary Hooper
I thought the name was pretty catchy and the auburn hair, so I read the blurb and took it home...

Description- Grace Parkes has just had to do a terrible thing. Having given birth to an illegitimate child, she has travelled to the famed Brookwood Cemetery to place her small infant's body in a rich lady's coffin. Following the advice of a kindly midwife, this is the only way that Grace can think of to give something at least to the little baby who died at birth, and to avoid the ignominy of a pauper's grave. Distraught and weeping, Grace meets two people at the cemetery: Mrs Emmeline Unwin and Mr James Solent. These two characters will have a profound affect upon Grace's life. But Grace doesn't know that yet. For now, she has to suppress her grief and get on with the business of living: scraping together enough pennies selling watercress for rent and food; looking after her older sister, who is incapable of caring for herself; thwarting the manipulative and conscience-free Unwin family, who are as capable of running a lucrative funeral business as they are of defrauding a young woman of her fortune

3) Kisses and Lies by Lauren Henderson
I read the first book some time ago in late Dec or early Jan and have been wanting to read it so yer I'm going to.

Description- After discovering that someone saw what looked like Dan’s emergency EpiPen in A-lister Plum’s designer handbag, Scarlett and her tough American sidekick, Taylor, sneak into a posh London nightclub, where Plum has a private table. Scarlett is stunned to discover a piece of evidence that might implicate another girl in Plum’s exclusive circle, Lucy Raleigh. Which means Scarlett must cast a wider net in order to catch the right suspect.Back at school, groundskeeper Jase is hoping to take Scarlett’s mind off her troubles with some heart-stopping kisses. Scarlett can’t help but feel guilty for indulging in romantic rendezvous when she should be hunting down Dan’s killer. However, once Scarlett finds out how Lucy is connected to Dan, she knows she must drop everything and travel to the McAndrew estate in Scotland to hunt for more clues. But when she arrives, Scarlett becomes the target of a dangerous hunt herself.

That's all I got this week! What did you get?

Review Time! I'm really excited about reiewing this one so.. READ IT! Okay, first off it continues with this weeks faerie theme so it's another faerie boom review. IT WAS AWSOME!!!! I loved this book! It was really good.

So basically it's about a girl (Dana, not my first choice of a name for this charcter but...) who is totally sick of her alchoholic mother's behaviour. She moves to Avalon ( the only place on earth where the two worlds meet , that is faerie and human) and goes to live with her dad who is a important politican in Faerie. So the story moves on from there. The plot more interesting (wayyyy more) but I don't want to give anything away.

Now this book is my sort of a book. It starts qucikly and goes straight to the main point. I hate books that drag on and on at the start (bo-ring) So it went right into the action and than... the hot guy comes to the rescue another great thing about the book. No waiting for the hot guy/s, they come to you! Fantastic charcters, great plot, excellent start, smooth ending and DROOL WORTHY GUYS what's not to love? Oh yeah, the name Dana (no comment...seems abit ...plain) Rating 4.5/5(NOOOOO why? Dana....)

Three Wishes Wednesday #11 (Faerie Edition)

Following the Faerietale theme this week I decided to do my Three Wishes on Faerie Books as well. Nothing more to say here they are...

1) Bitter Frost by Kailin Gow

Releases Date - June 1st 2010

Why- Duh, it's about faeries. The cover creeps me out though....*shivers* Has anyone seen the grudge it kinda remind of the chick from that movie...

Description - All her life, Breena had always dreamed about fairies as though she lived among them...beautiful fairies living among mortals and living in Feyland. In her dreams, he was always there the breathtakingly handsome but dangerous Winter Prince, Kian, who is her intended. When Breena turns sixteen, she begins seeing fairies and other creatures mortals don t see. Her best friend Logan, suddenly acts very protective. Then she sees Kian, who seems intent on finding her and carrying her off to Feyland. That's fine and all, but for the fact that humans rarely survive a trip to Feyland, a kiss from a fairy generally means death to the human unless that human has fairy blood in them or is very strong, and although Kian seemed to be her intended, he seems to hate her and wants her dead. [close]

2) Spell Hunter by R.J Anderson

Release Date - 28th April 2009

Why- Besides the obvious, I have been wanting to read this one since the second book the second book came out last month ( Wayfarer ) So I have to pick this one up before reading the other one.

Description- Deep inside the great Oak lies a dying faery realm, bursting with secrets instead of magic. Long ago the faeries mysteriously lost their magic. Robbed of their powers, they have become selfish and dull-witted. Now their numbers are dwindling and their very survival is at stake. Only one young faery—Knife—is determined to find out where her people's magic has gone and try to get it back. Unlike her sisters, Knife is fierce and independent. She's not afraid of anything—not the vicious crows, the strict Faery Queen, or the fascinating humans living nearby. But when Knife disobeys the Faery Queen and befriends a human named Paul, her quest becomes more dangerous than she realizes. Can Knife trust Paul to help, or has she brought the faeries even closer to the brink of destruction?

3) Iron Daughter by Julie Kagawa

Release Date- 1st August 2010

Why- Just finished the first one can't wait to get my hands on the second. Besides I HEART the cover it's so pretty. I like it better than the first cover because it's kinda purpleish.

Description- Half Summer faery princess, half human, Meghan has never fit in anywhere. Deserted by the Winter prince she thought loved her, she is prisoner to the Winter faery queen. As war looms between Summer and Winter, Meghan knows that the real danger comes from the Iron Fey, iron-bound faeries that only she and her absent prince have seen. But no one believes her. Worse, Meghan's own fey powers have been cut off. She's alone in Faery with only her wits for help. Trusting anyone would be foolish. Trusting a seeming traitor could be deadly. But even as she grows a backbone of iron, Meghan can't help but hear the whispers of longing in her all-too-human heart.

Well, that's my Faerie Edition of Three Wishes Wednesday. What are you wishing for this week?

Iron King

Following the Faerie theme from my Read-a-Like post yesterday I have finally finished Iron King by Julie Kagawa which I started in May. I kept putting it off because I kept getting new books and starting them. So today I finally picked it up again and finished it. This is 2010 Debut Author novel so another one to go towards the challenge!

I found this novel was very enjoyable and definitely a great Debut. A good plot, fantastic characters that were well portrayed although I found I would have liked it better if the relationship between the characters were shown alot more. I found it was really clever of the author to bring in reference's to Shakespeare Midnight Summer's Dream and making Puck one of the main characters. However, I couldn't help comparing it to Glimmerglass which I'm currently reading. Although these two novels have nothing in common besides the fact that they are both about Faeries. I am finding myself liking Glimmerglass better. Julie's writing style took abit of getting used to but the writing style in Glimmerglass I found I could easily adapt to. Nevertheless, it was a fantastic novel (and debut!) that is worth reading. I'm pretty sure I'm the only who hasn't read it til now but if YOU haven't go check it out! Rating 3.5/5

Read-a-Like List (Faeries)

Activity #7 of the Summer break Reading Challenge is to create a read-a-like list of your choice of theme/topic. I have this obession with books that have anything to do with angels and faeries so I had to do the list on one of those. I chose faeries because it was the easier of the two. So here is my list-

1) Wicked Lovely, Ink Exchange, Fragile Enternity, Radiant Shadows by Melissa Marr -
A great series of books about faeries& love & hot guys. Defintely one of the first ones thaI think of when I think Faeries. I think it's quite original and just a great series to lose yourself in.

2) Wings & Spells by Aprilynne Pike -
One of my favourite series all-time (thanks to Tamani who is the smexiest faerie out there). This series is absolutely adorable. Really cute read, with love and everything. It's not as I guess as hard-core as Wicked Lovely. So if you're into the softer 'stuff' this one is for you.

3) Tithe, Valiant, Ironside by Holly Black-
This one is really hard-core (seriously) The faeries in this one aren't nice and cute. It's like muderous, rebellious faeries who aren't excately good-looking. It's..weird in a good way but gard-core all the same.

4) Wondrous Strange & Darklight by Lesley Livingston
I still haven't quite worked out what this one is about. I read the first book last year and have the second one but haven't read it yet. I found it was interesting BUT at the same time extremely confusing. It's like a whole jumble of faeries rolled into a jam roll. However, I plan to read the second soon so maybe it would make more sense.

5) Iron King, Iron Daughter by Julie Kagawa
I am writing this while I'm finishing the first one so I can't say much about it except it's so far so good.

6) Glimmerglass by Jenna Black
Can't say much about this one either since I have 50 pages to go that I have to read after I finish Iron King. However, this is turing out to be one of my fav I think (maybe).

So that's my list of Read-a-Likes for Faerie Books!

In My Mailbox #6

I pretty sure it's #6 but I have this tendency of not remembering number so forgive if it happens to #123457 or something (nah it wouldn't be that one either) In My mailbox is a weekly meme hosted my Kristi @ The Story Siren. Anyway, I have strongly considered joining Book Buyers Anonymous since I have 22+ books besides my bed I haven't even picked up besides the 5 that I'm currently reading so many books so little time BUT I JUST COULDN'T LEAVE THOSE PRECIOUS LITTLE BOOKS WITH PRETTY LITTLE COVERS JUST...JUST SITTING THERE!!!!!!!!!! So I got some more books......(links to goodreads)

For Review I got -

1) Werelove Dusk Conspiracy by Lakisha Spletzer
I pretty excited to read this one since it's PNR/YA so my two favgenres in one book! Plus it's a 2010 Debut Author book (according to goodreads, I love goodreads)

Other books I got include-
2) Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver
Everyone has read this one!!! I started this when I got it yesterday and so far so good. the wrinting style is beautiful.

3) Academy 7 by Anne Osterlund
I'm usually not a science fiction reader becuase I just don't find it all that interesting but I made a exception for this one becuase I have a good feeling it's not going to be too science fictionish.

4) Graceling by Kristin Cashore
Been meaning to read this one for awhile. I have heard Fantastic things about it so finally got it.

That's all for this week! I seriously have to stop getting books, have you guys seen confessions of a shopaholic? I'm kinda like that girl but with books (I just couldn't leave it there it was on sale, I just couldn't leave it there it was so pretty!!!)
